Snaiad scientific name lexicon - updated edition
Added 2022-09-21 14:08:33 +0000 UTCThe 1000+ name lexicon on the alien world of #Snaiad contains many "uncanned" prehistoric languages alongside scientific Greek/Latin.
General convention is to couple one Greek/Latin word root with one from another language for genus names - creating cool possibilities like Tsaruborhynkhos, Magnasellahia, and Hursaura.
Feel free to use this lexicon in your own projects!

Exactly my point of view! It can really give the names their own spirit. People remember not even our. current nomenclature is strictly latin/greek.

What are your criteria to choosing words from different languages? Also what language serves as the "basis" for Snaiadi nomenclature (I mean for things declinations, suffixes, prefixes or forming of compound words and etc.)?

Nowadays I find drawing from other languages, or even making up words, produces much more memorable scientific names.
