I knew him, if not extremely well, but we met after I was a precocious tween musician sitting in the front row at a Rural Route 3 show in the mid 1990s, and he was the featured headliner. I pestered him in the ensuing years, and he was gracious and encouraging. I soon after mentioned to Larry Penn in passing that I'd met him, and was told to deliver a message from Larry to Utah that he'd "never done a day's work in his life" :-D

These artists are clearly talking about their experience: "I personally feel that I in particular am blessed to be a witness" rather than "the stadium is full, I love my wife, praise God"

If you are Christian hegemonic it may be very difficult to see it but I urge you to try because it looks like saying christianity is the best option and the only option for politics, no matter the original politics of the artist
