He was a spy! Or at least something, something intelligence 😅 But he probably wrote the James Bond screenplay because he was buds with Ian Fleming, and apparently they were "spies" together.

Agreed. Dahl was flying close to the sun with this children's tale (icarus pun intended). Anderson does a pretty good job of it, obscuring more of its haunting details. It both keeps the visuals from being tasteless but leaves a lot to the imagination, which does the opposite. Pretty neat.
