Even if the new version of you wound up being similar in many aspects, it wouldn't be a 1:1 match, the you that you were would be gone entirely. A death of the ego, with a new ego growing to fill the void. If a person took their own life, for example, and then turned into a blank slate zombie who eventually became sapient and intelligent on par with a living person again, but with zero memory of whoever they were before, would that negate the initial suicide? Not a perfect analogy l know, but l think it helps illustrate my point.

2024-01-31 10:48:05 +0000 UTCI always took the fact that Fry said "i don't know if you can hear me right now Leela, but i love you" (the important part being the first half of that sentence) to mean that he's directly speaking to her from outside of the coma, specifically because those words are said less than a minute before she actually wakes up.
