Try again: Beast Maiden

See...here is a perfect opportunity for a safety feature now that we've seen your apprehension at connecting the battery and getting anywhere near this thing on the ground, You have solder pads all over your FCs, even your JB F4 I'm sure. Some are for sbus and ppm choices where two outta three pads gets jumped for your choice. Some pads are set for 3.3 or 5 volts to supply another component. I say two more separate pads for 5 volts should not be a big deal weight wise. Then you solder the two together to supply 5 volts to power up your FC, or if you choose, you can solder in a very light weight 5 volt switch across the pads to not only disconnect the FC when connecting the batteries, then turn on the switch in a safe spot on the drone to power the FCs b4 flight. It could also act as a safety disconnent when a crashed drone is motionless on the ground but something in the FC is just waiting for motion to start freaking out. Mechanically disconnecting dangerous electronics is always more safe than hoping your quad or raidio programming is going to do what you programmed it to do. If the signal wires from the ESCs always go to the FC, then mechanically disabling the FC is the safe way to go, especially with this beast quad. Ever see the straps holding down a helicopter when they turn it on and test it even with blades. A mechanical safety device. If your Beast quad's performance is compromised by a 2-3 gram 5 volt safety switch, I"d make an art piece outta it.

From the perspective of the gopro..it could be a 5inch (albeit a bit slower and more ponderous..but that's probably just you taking it easy on the maiden). So the real fun is going to be either watching it as a bystander, or flying the thing. Interesting...

I would be scared to fly this based on the desynchronise issue... good video...

That sounded sketchy all the way up to total desync, really awesome to see it fly though!

Well, I'll be interested to hear what the culprit was there. Too bad because I thought it was kind of amazing the way that thing covers ground. Here's the positive, you were low to the ground which probably cut down on damage to the Beast, and you didn't have that thing fly into your house, or car, or cow, or kid. You were at the stage of flight where I would have been really tempted to start ripping around the house. Yep, pretty curious why that happened. I fly a big 15" quad for photo work, always worry about component failure.

That's really nice from the goggles perspective. I'd imagine from the other end of it, the thing looks like an upside down quad LAWNMOWER! LOL!

The only way to land the thing upside down so when you go pick it up it doesnt jump up and eat your hand!

Good choice going with sound on this video. This build has such a different sound than a mini quad, its throatier and fuller, sounds like an actual aircraft. Not sure why it dropped at the end but it was looking good up until then! >_
