As most of you must know by now, I'm a long-term roleplaying gamer (since 1977). I've been playing in one or more games pretty much continuously since that time, with only brief breaks.
The current game began well before Corona began to rear its ugly head. The original campaign grand story arc took us from 1st through 20th level, and the second arc has taken us into the epic levels.
The world it's set in is ours, after a particularly peculiar magical and technological apocalypse; the main characters are generally based in Seijin Deigo, built on the ruins of old San Diego. I had this picture commissioned from Drachea Rannak (whose work you saw previously in the picture I posted of Prince Twilight Dawn/Dexter Ward Armitage).
From L-R, the characters are:
"Nessie", a grick that we raised from an egg and who is a party NPC mostly controlled by Joe (Iggy's player, see a bit later). Nessie has a hard time talking but is quite good at understanding people, and took up the adventuring profession of gunslinger. Here she is quad-wielding her enchanted Desert Eagle .50s!
Kalama "Lightfingers" Lenneth and Gus, her corgi contstruct. Kalama, my character, is the wizard and healer of the group, with a long-term fascination with ancient media and with corgis. One of her titles is "the Corgomancer", as all of her summons exhibit corgi traits. Despite her near-harmless appearance, she is a Wizard-Archmage of often terrifying power. Not unexpected, when one of your media inspirations was Lina Inverse.
Briana: Rarely if ever using her last name, Briana was one of our early adversaries, who we discovered was working for the enemy because they'd promised her a cure for the condition that gave her incredible super-speed... at the cost of drastically shortening her life. (like, she would die of old age in maybe 5 more years). The party convinced her that there was more than one way to solve her problem, and ultimately found a way to give her back her life without losing the speed (that had come from a well-meaning but botched attempt of her father to heal her from a different chronic curse). She is a deadly spellsword with literally superhuman speed. She's the GM's main NPC.
Ignatius: "Iggy", as he's usually called, is a human-reptilian ... something, usually showing his reptilian nature only subtly except in battle. Despite his incredible savagery in hand-to-hand battle and deadliness with weapons, Iggy is often the more reasoned and diplomatic of the party, though Kalama is the more sympathetic and sometimes more easily manipulated. Combining sheer strength, a bit of ki power, a touch of psionics, and a lot of combat skill, he is the tank of the party, played by Joe.
Sitting on Iggy's shoulder is Gladys, an awakened Opossum who also happens to be a druid. She's an occasional visitor to the party, but I couldn't resist the chance to have a cute opossum in the picture.
Finally, last is Rockie, played by my friend Dana. Rockie is a martial artist/ki warrior with the most laid-back attitude of the party -- not surprising, because in addition to eating a lot of grass and weeds she has an affinity for a very particular "weed". Do not make the mistake of thinking she can't get angry, though; you can push her too far, and then she stops being funny at all. She makes up for not quite being the damage-dealing monster that Iggy and Nessie are by being nearly untouchable and also able to concentrate her spiritual energy into a pure bolt of power that almost nothing can resist.
My friends loved this as a Christmas gift. I hope you like it too!
