Snatcher was originally released for Japanese home computers. The MSX2 one is considered the best of those. Snatcher her was later ported to the PC Engine CD and that version was then ported and translated for the Sega CD which remains the only English release. The MSX2 version came with a cartridge that expanded the audio capabilities of that system. Which is why it sounds so good for 1988.
