So, you were right that Hooktail, Gloomtail, and Bonetail are a family of dragon bosses. They are all in the original game, but only got the one boss theme, the first one you listened to. The remake not only redid the original theme, but then made unique remixes for the other two dragons as well. Hooktail is fought as the boss of Chapter 1, Gloomtail is a mid-boss in the final chapter as a callback to the beginning of the adventure, and Bonetail is one of the game's optional superbosses fought at the bottom of the bonus dungeon, which is why that one sounded particularly aggressive and intense. One other note about Gloomtail: Do you remember the Palace of Shadow you listened to not long ago? He is one of the bosses you fight there. Just to give you an even better idea of how menacing that place is. I'm someone who is kind of the opposite of you, as I grew up with Nintendo with the N64 and have stuck entirely with Nintendo consoles since. One can only afford to play so much, and as you pointed out, they very consistently make top-notch games. Not to say there haven't been some flubs here and there, but I feel like a bit of an outsider in all these discussions I see about AAA games going downhill because first-party Nintendo titles have remained a pretty safe bet for quality, and yes, something to look forward to. At least, that's my perspective from where I'm sitting.
