The KH series is basically, as Bob Ross would say, a happy accident. Games based on movies have a bad rep, but Kingdom Hearts stood out because despite the weird premise, it's just a good game. Graphics, audio, mechanics, gameplay, difficulty, it all works. Somehow, it just...works. It's fun. Even today, I'd say it's aged very well. You're correct to note that you have a biased sample on your channel, because people love their dramatic boss fight themes. The KH games are like 80% positive, happy, and cheerful, I promise you =) In my experience, you can play KH1 and you'll have a great, self-contained experience. Chain of Memories, and KH2 are still easily digestible, I'd say. Then it starts getting progressively iffier and unless you're in love with the series by that point, that's where I'd advise you to stop.

If one day, you have both the time and the patience to try it, im sure you will not regret it though. As far as the music and composition are concerned, you're right : Shimomura did in fact, use some segments from the original disney movie and work with that material to produce a brand new song. Another good example of that, is the wolrd ost of KH Birth by sleep of Cindrella, entitled "bibidi babidi boo"which uses a small section of the original song from that movie. Dont think that it's a pression or requirement from Disney however. Because she mentioned multiple times in interviewes that she pretty much got total liberty with making KH OST.

2024-12-02 19:05:14 +0000 UTCIf it makes you feel any better a lot of KH fans (me included) are trying to get our heads around the story lol. While there is a story and the gameplay is fun... it can go all over the place lol
