Thanks for the reaction! I think I didn’t do a great job with my description. It was the setting of the level and the sound effect in the beginning of the track that made me think about the dark vastness of space.

I don’t usually comment this many times on one video as I want others to have something to say as well but I fell like you’re missing something rather fundamental about the R&C franchise. Rift Apart came out nearly if not 20 years after the first game, with a dozen or so games in between. The team making the game contain nearly no one from the early ps2 titles and the music has gone from funky and interesting to basic and boring. I bring this up as it feels as though your knowledge of RA has dampened if not tainted your view of the first games music. I woke up to see that you had listened to some of the most stand out songs from a soundtrack full of stand out songs and to hear how almost subdued you were was surprising. I hope that as you hear more songs from the series you’ll pick up on its brilliance. Keep up the good work.

Ratchet and clank’s songs are generally such stand outs that rift apart feels soulless in comparison, though that is just my opinion. Gemlik base is a military outpost outside a planet that is currently being invaded by the main villain’s forces, it’s a turning point in the story where Ratchet realizes how bad things are and begins to focus not on revenge but on stopping chairman drek, it sounds pretty different to the rest of the soundtrack on purpose as it’s supposed to be a wake up call to the player that things are bad.

David Bergeaud (pronounced ber-joe) is legendary for his R&C soundtracks from the first game (the one you’re listening to now) up to I believe R&C tools of destruction. Be prepared to hear from the first 3 games and the pseudo spin off Deadlocked and not much else as tools of destruction went in a different direction in terms of music and then David left the series. Can’t wait for you to explore the rest of the Ratchet and clank songs, they are some of my favorite soundtracks.
