Mega Man X - Spark Mandrill / Armored Armadillo / Storm Eagle

Comments

Honestly, the entire Megaman series is just very good in general. Most of them have a strong soundtrack and the gameplay itself is very fluid even for the older games in the series. There are some that's considered weaker than others, as all series have, but they're generally all well-liked. They do also all play mostly alike, so that might probably be the only issue with them, since powerups and such are often similar between the games.

Armored Armadillo will always be favorite track on MMX. Something about that energetic melody gets me hyped up. 😁 You should check out Mega Man Maverick Hunter X versions at some point. They do some interesting reinterpretations of these tracks. FYI, Maverick Hunter X is a remake of Mega Man X exclusively to the PSP. Not to be confused with Mega Man Powered Up, which is a remake of the first Mega Man game.

X is designed to be a starting point. The NES Mega Man games all have one mostly continuous story, and then Mega Man X for SNES starts a different story. It's the same world, but with a big time gap so it's basically a new setting. The "Mega Man X" and "Mega Man Zero" series are about characters named "X" and "Zero" respectively, not the "Mega Man" (aka Rockman) from the 8-bit games. In the original Mega Man games and the X games, you really don't need to pay any attention to the story; there are cutscenes between levels, but they don't affect the play of the game. The story doesn't get really complicated until Zero. And yes, I think you should play X. Even if you don't reach the end, the way the level-select system works means you'll get to hear most of the soundtrack.

This whole soundtrack packs a punch!
