Kirby and The Rainbow Curse - CROWNED / Heavy Lobster

Comments

I really don't know why the guitars sound like this here, in other games it isn't a problem

Pedro Jorge

I'm not sure who arranged each track, but the original CROWNED is by Hirokazu Ando, and Heavy Lobster is by Jun Ishikawa. The Rainbow Curse music staff was Shogo Sakai (you may know him for the Mother 3 soundtrack) and Megumi Ohara (who also arranged Eternal Dream). You wondered where these tracks play - iirc they don't play anywhere in game, they're only available in the music room. Also, you asked if Rainbow Curse just has more electric guitars - yes! Most Kirby games have a distinct musical style/soundfont: Triple Deluxe has a "woodland" theme with lighter feeling instrumentation, Planet Robobot is more electronic, etc. Personally, I associate Rainbow Curse with a "dreamy/space-y" feeling, alongside a particular electric guitar sound and synth. It's harder to pin down, but I feel like Rainbow Curse's percussion also tends to give it away.

Since everyone is talking about CROWNED (and there's a lot to talk about there) I'll fill you in a little about Heavy Lobster. The song originally comes from the remake of Kirby Super Star, Kirby Super Star Ultra, used for a boss of the same name that is exactly what it sounds like: a giant metal lobster. The original game just gave it the standard boss theme but the remake gave it a unique theme due to being a somewhat climactic battle. And it is indeed a chase, at least for the first part, until you get chased into an open area where you can actually fight it.

Yeah that's fair, thanks!

I just go off requests otherwise there's too many variables and headaches. So yea separate requests unless it's a Platinum member special inquiry or something. Some songs have 10+ versions and such, had to regulate it somehow.

Well, GR was the first song I heard so I didn't really make that connection til now I guess,

Jnn

Huh. When you talked about how having a different version of the same song is a rarity here and mentioned Vector to the Heavens, it made me realize that the original was never reacted to. It doesn't seem like there's any requests for it either, so I'm curious. If the same song has multiple versions does each version count as separate requests?

Nutty noon is actually my favorite song from return to dreamland, I will request it at some point for sure. Also, you’ve literally listened to a song called gourmet race, so, yes there has always been a food theme
