The Legend of Zelda - Hyrule Castle

I was looking forward to this and was not disappointed. 😁 Hyrule Castle is a pivotal point in many of the games as it’s usually an area where you have to infiltrate to save Zelda and/or defeat Ganon, the main villain. In Breath of the Wild’s case, both Zelda’s and Ganon’s theme’s are incorporated into the track. I don’t know if this is officially said anywhere, the main theme is kind of Link’s theme so when you hear it in the Breath of the Wild version, it’s suppose to represent him. Essentially, this version of the track is a culmination of the main hero marching to save Zelda and face Ganon. Storytelling wrapped up in a song with no lyrics. 🤌🏼 On a side note, the OG version you can hear more clearly whenever the King of Hyrule is revealed. It’s more of a regal rendition and definitely less menacing.

Listening to Lorule castle first was probably not the best idea. The reason that song is so cool is that parts of it, when played backwards are the Hyrule castle theme you’ve heard throughout these tracks. The entire reason why that is the case is that the game that Lorule castle came from is “Link between worlds” and has you travel to an alternate Hyrule known as “Lorule” that is a dark reflection of the Hyrule that link is from. Also, yeah, it’s a really obvious pun “High-rule” = “Hyrule” “Low-rule” = “Lorule” High vs low to show how the two worlds are opposites.

My favorite version is the Twilight Princess one. It’s so empty and desolate. This makes sense, as except for the enemies you fight along the way, the castle is completely empty. No attendant, no servants. No human presence at all. And you can really feel it. It’s also the final explorable area of the game.
