that eastern guitar must be a shamisen, a guitar with 3 strings used in traditionnal japanase music. It derived itself from sanchin, a chinese guitar, that was introduced in the south of Japan (ryukyu isles) back in 16th century. Fun fact : that's still unkown who was the very first ancestor to modern guitar. But there's 2 plausible candidates : on the one hand The sanchian chinese guitar is very old, but we dont have any precise date of its creation. On the other Hand, there's Oud who seems to be first used 2000 years before JC in Antic Irak Empire. Nowadays it's often used in Nothern Africa, Turkia. The name oud (pronounced by emphasis the o' in Arabic) will make the word "luth" in Europe.
