Great reaction, Jesse! Vagrant Story is an odd hybrid of action and turn-based RPG. You control the one character with a similar camera to Metal Gear Solid, and combat involves stopping everything and targeting a body part that's in range of your weapon. You can then chain attacks and abilities together for big combos, but then have to balance it against your risk points, which lower your accuracy and defense with every attack. I absolutely loved this game at the time, but the gameplay hasn't aged especially well, so it'd be nice to see a remake at some point. As for the music itself, you're right that it does it's job and is a big lift for the player with swelling horns and light strings after a fairly dark story, and I heard it so many times that, over 20 years later I can still hear the whole song in my head at will! Finally, as this post went way longer than I thought, this is technically a Final Fantasy game, as it shares a world with Final Fantasy XII and Final Fantasy Tactics!
