About why they chose this sound, here's a little meta-context that shouldn't spoil anything specific: Koei makes two different series of games based on the historical Romance of the Three Kingdoms epic. The games they make titled "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" are mostly turn-based strategy games that aim for period authenticity, and the "Dynasty Warriors" games tell the same story as an exaggerated action game. They go out of their way to give the the two series different feels.
