Everstone Daycare - Progress Report (July 23, 2022)

Howdy everyone! 

Just here to give an update on what we've been up to in the past week.

Spooky is currently on a trip and has been away from his computer and tablet for the past few days, so work on art has been slow. He's still working on sketches for the next CG (as you can see above), so please expect something soon! We're currently brainstorming how the scene will play out and be written, as he has more experience with the theme involved than I do.

I've spent the past week messing around with the menus in the game and seeing what parts I'm able to customize and move around. It turns out, the engine I'm using is fairly restrictive with what I can change, and in the case of the Volume/Text menu, required me to go outside of the program and swap files around to be able to customize it at all. I wasn't able to do much more than a reskin, but I'm still fairly happy with how they turned out, especially the backgrounds I made for each menu. You can find screenshots of how they look in-game attached above. I'm still open to any comments and suggestions about them though, as I'm a little worried the colors are a little hard on the eyes since they're monochromatic and a little saturated.

I've also begun working on a little dev menu that to let me mess with variables and jump to different rooms while in the middle of the game. This will be mostly to help test new scenes out in the future without having to play through all of the game or having to make several saves at different points. If it ends up working out and is something actually usable, I'll make a guide for patrons to use to make getting to future content releases less of a hassle.
