So American diner Won!

Discuss here!

Suggest stuff for it!

I am thinking some fried and greasy stuff, some milkshakes, kids food..maybe some classic pancakes!

But what I know about diners are only what I have seen on TV/Movies/Games and read in books 😅

So suggest stuff for it!!

Comments

Oh thats a good one. they have good greasy food..lol

BryrRose (Gamin' Grannie)

SO EXCITED FOR THAT! 😍😍😍

Antonia Penaloza

Hashbrowns, eggs benedict, pancakes (gotta come in a stack w/ syrup + a square of butter on top!), malted milkshakes, banana split, fries + onion rings, classic large american burger, turkey club, and of course a grilled cheese with ranch on the side!

Kitteecatmeoww

I thought the wafflehouse only served waffles lol but i see there are plenty of menu options! thanks for the link!

MunMun

I have a griddle/pancake maker and a milkshake maker in the works. The milkshake maker will probably be ready by JUly-August. The griddle will require a bit more time!

MunMun

This is a very famous diner in the US. If you have time you may want to look over what they have! https://www.wafflehouse.com/

Toni Hawthorne

Milkshakes, chicken fried steak, biscuits, corned beef hash with eggs, omelets, maybe a griddle?

Antonia Penaloza

Some ideas: Gravy fries, chicken fried steak, fried egg sandwiches, Philly cheesesteaks, open-faced sandwiches, lemonade iced tea (in the US, we call this an "Arnold Palmer").

Nico, I wish there was an "OMG" emoji for the fried chicken in the Bloody Mary. It's a good thing Icemunmun's food always looks delicious. :-D

Leigh Bennett

I'm from Wisconsin, so diner food is a classic for us! Fried cheese curds, waffles and pancakes with all the trimmings, burgers and brats, Friday fish fry, and of course the bloody mary drink! However, the bloody mary is a bit special here. It's like a fun thing that restaurants see what ridiculous stuff they can stuff into the drink. Here's a link for a bar in Milwaukee! They put a whole fried chicken in the drink! https://sobelmanspubandgrill.com/milwaukee-sobelman-s-bloody-marys

Nico Dickman

if Ice does that, gotta include the Chicago Dog. it's classic!

Nico Dickman

Footlog hotdogs with all the trimmings. Ketchup, mustard, chilli, onions, slaw

Sharese Kerr-Williams

Also more kids menu options would be nice

Katie Hernandez

Second the tuna melt in particular. Those are super-common in diners. I would also say patty melts, but those aren't THAT distinct from burgers visually (though I do love a good patty melt).

Nicole Andrew

apple pie and ice cream, key lime pie, pecan pie. chicken fried steak. burger and fries. meatloaf and mashed potatoes. steak and eggs. milkshakes. root beer floats.

If you wanna make Louisiana Dinner food, like you said in your pool, you should check for Cajun recipes like Po'Boys, Jambalaya, Crawfish Étouffée, Gombo, Catfish dishes, Hush Puppies, ...

Boumarie

I love this idea! I’m a fan of some of the recipes in this link. https://www.marthastewart.com/7846022/all-american-diner-inspired-recipes

Sara Kitchen

Louisiana style Po'Boys!

Chicken Fried Steak is so diner! I don't think I've been to a single diner in the South/Midwest that doesn't feature it. It is almost always served with mashed potatoes and gravy. Fish and chips (french fries), loaded baked potatoes (Baked potato with cheese, bacon, green onions, and sour cream), chicken and waffles (Fried chicken strips atop Belgian waffles with syrup and powdered sugar), sandwiches especially Melts (meat with melted cheese).

MissAmanda86

Disco fries, shrimp scampi, meatloaf sandwich, tuna melt, German chocolate cake https://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/disco-fries-3306349 https://www.cookingclassy.com/shrimp-scampi/ https://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/food-network-kitchen/tuna-melt-recipe-2125452 https://tastesbetterfromscratch.com/german-chocolate-cake/ https://therecipecritic.com/meatloaf-sandwich/

PJ Brown

I agree! Also hand pies are really common especially apple ones.

MissAmanda86

Pies are a common staple for the dessert menu, especially in the American South. https://www.tasteofhome.com/collection/classic-american-pie-recipes/

I've seen a lot of places with Reubens, Cole Slaw, and Philly Cheesesteaks so thats not entirely correct. The rest is mostly southern American Recipes which can work

ChayseTheBadger

When I think of American classic diner I'm thinking of 1960s. So burgers, grilled sandwiches, steak sandwich (like philly cheese steak) chicken tenders, milkshakes, malts, soda floats, blooming onions, waffle fries, loaded fries, waffles and hashbrowns etc.

ChayseTheBadger

These are not foods found in American diners. In other restaurants yes, but the American diner is a specific style in terms of decor and menu. Think hamburgers and fries

Brianna Loyd

Diners are typically burgers fries, chicken sandwiches, hot dogs, etc. Places like STEAK & SHAKE/ SONIC/ COOKOUT/etc are a good menu inspiration.

Brianna Loyd

Including a couple old school items would be cool, maybe something like root beer floats.

Moozilla

Tacos, Nachos, Cole Slaw, Bacon, Banana Split, Root Beer Floats, Pudding (any flavor), Lasagna (sp?), Beef Stew, just to name a few items I would like to come across.

David Blake

Reuben Sandwich, Lobster Roll. Beef Jerky. Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich. Cole Slaw. Hushpuppy. Muffuletta.Succotash. Thank you Google :))

PETRA

some more suggestions ? Links to lists will also be helpful!

MunMun

Much of the diner food is grilled so more hamburgers! Curly fries, bloomin onion rings, club sandwiches, fried chicken and biscuit. Maybe milkshake too!

Nguyen Kim Le Nguyen

You should make southern foods like fried fish and chips, chocolate German cake and etc
