She has the appearance of a green pixie or fairy Anise is the reference to a plant called Anis, famously used to brew the alcohol called absynthe which was consumed in large quantity in the XIXnth century. A nickname of the drink was "the green fairy". Also the poetry of the XIXth century heavily focused on prostitution which was a reassuring figure for a number of poets known to also dabble heavily in the green fairy. Good work Dave...
