Amazing! Thank you, my friend!

In case you're curious what Monica's conversation with Owain (the old belter with a cat) was, here's the script that has the belter along with the English translation: https://www.reddit.com/r/TheExpanse/comments/rqg6kj/comment/hqp0kmu/

I'm really looking forward to the books, my friend! Thank you for the kind words!

In general I agree. Very likely this would have ended the conflict sooner rather than later. But it's also a possibility that had he died at this point someone else would have taken his mantle and continued the conflict. It's something that is unknowable. But history does have examples where a leader is killed and becomes a martyr to the cause. Does it happen often? Nope. But does it happen. Yes. its certainly possible (though less likely) that prolonging the conflict soured more and more of the Belt to his methods thus allowing the conflict to effectually end in a more decisive manner and long lasting manner. Again, this is all something that is utterly unknowable to anyone. And even if someone had the ability to see the future and that case applied, it would be no comfort in any manner to those who died in the interim.

Other comments already explained the situation very well. So I'll just say that I'm so glad you didn't react vehemently at Jim's decision and understood immediately he couldn't outright kill Filip like this. So many reactors were so pissed at this moment. Once again you totally get the characters' psychology and everything. Can't wait for you to watch these last episodes (AND discover the last trilogy of books!!)

Also, as much as this decision could lead to many more deaths, I can't help but think that launching a disarmed torpedo to Marco is like a slap on his naked ass. It's actually really humiliating! "Coyo, James Holden just showed you he could kill you, but let you go your tail between your legs."

Blackd0nuts

One 100 percent spot on!

Perfectly said, my friend!

Much can be argued about whether Holden made a right or a wrong decision. But I think we can all agree that he made a very Holden decision. Jim's grown a lot over the course of this series. He's a much better leader than he used to be, and he's embraced that role, one that he originally wanted nothing to do with. But for all his growth, he is still is who he is. He still has that paladin inside him. He is still Don Quixote, idealistic and determined to be honorable, no matter the cost. We can say he's foolish, we can even say he's objectively wrong. But he is James Holden, and Holden is Holden.

This was a controversial episode among fans at the time it aired. So many folks thought Jim should have allowed Bobbie to kill the Pella. To me this decision, more than maybe any other, speaks to who James Holden is. He's not a general. He's not Avasarala or Bobbie, who absolutely would have destroyed the ship even knowing the personal consequences and probably would have been right to do so. Jim has his own internal compass that points him toward his own definition of what is right. Sometimes that means going against conventional wisdom, or what's politically wise, or what's militarily sound. It's part of why he frustrates so many people in-world and why he can sometimes be unpredictable. But he always tries to be true to himself and that big heart of his, and damn the consequences. It's such an interesting and juicy character trait. Plus, it's also just a kick-ass space battle.

1000% agree! I'd watch Prax grow food on Ganymede in real time :)

Fury Roll

I felt the exact same way. The only thing that kept me from going 'all in' on the Paladin is Jim's track record as an instrument for destiny. Lets hope Filip was worth it. Thank you for this (and all) of your great comments, my friend!

Another great episode. I love that we get more intense space battles for this final season. I'm glad they let both Ana and Prax have cameos in the last season. They're both characters I'd watch if they got spin-off shows. Three more to go!

James Holden made a wrong choice. It frustrated me. The war could have been ended. How many more will die because he didn’t want to kill Filip?
