To answer your question: The line "Is there in truth no beauty" comes from the poem "Jordan (I)" by the 17th century poet George Herbert; it essentially asks whether beauty can only be found in fiction and not in reality. I'll venture to say, in truth, there is definite beauty. I've seen it in reality. It can sometimes be intangible so maybe it seems fictitious. Or maybe that's pretension at its best :)
