2024-12-11 21:23:24 +0000 UTCYep. I'm not surprised this episode choked on the Gorgan's muumuu for you. When I saw this episode was coming up, I was thinking "Oh dang!" Sorry to see this one come up right after the praise Greg heaped on "The Paradise Syndrome". But then we have to all take the bad with the good. In my opinion, this is one of the worst episodes. I usually skip it when rewatching this series. The first time I saw this episode and I saw that the kids were, for practical term, celebrating the deaths of their parents, I lost all empathy for the kids no matter what their reasons were. I was a younging myself at the time I first saw this episode and I just couldn't understand how someone could not feel sorrow for the lost of their parents. "How about a solo tour of the anti-matter chamber? No. No. Its completely safe." "Tommy. Would you like to see how a phaser set to kill works?" After Tommy caused the Enterprise to leave orbit - "Tommy, I'm going to need you to transport to the planet right now." "Would you like to see a demonstration of the Vulcan Neck Pinch from Spock?"

And the young Asian boy grew up to appear in the classic Revenge of the Nerds :)

2024-12-11 15:36:47 +0000 UTClol, based on your tagline and the look on your face in the thumbnail this leans more toward the "miss" category as far as Star Trek hit or miss episodes :) And hey, I won't judge you for finding it hilarious when Kirk body slams kids when he reaches his breaking point with them. I feel like someone in the Star Trek production universe goes out of their way to portray most of the kids in the episodes I've seen so far as annoying as possible so maybe they can justify such a reaction from Jim, lol. You however, tone down the knee jerk desire to just stun them and call it a day. Teach Your Children, and know they love you -- Crosby Stills and Nash

2024-12-11 15:15:30 +0000 UTCYea... this episode had caused me great reason to cringe. One positive is one of the children actors Pamela Ferdin went to my junior high school. I got to talk to her briefly but she had an apple in her mouth as she was going through her purse lol.
