So GR was kind of a perv. Fortunately I was too young to understand those things at the time! Teri Garr was amazing, may she RIP. I loved her in Close Encounters as well!

Etta Eskridge

Of course everyone's been drinking. A martini with breakfast was considered normal and a Bloody Mary would be served with lunch. LOL

Two other movie plot ideas that were written by Gene Roddenberry were "Genesis II" (1972), a post-apocalyptic rebuild Earth story starring Alex Cord. The second was "Planet Earth" (1974), starring John Saxon as the main character, which was a rename and rewrite using the same main characters (but different actors) of "Genesis II". "Planet Earth" story takes place after the original failed pilot interesting enough. Both features failed to get picked up. Even though I think if either had a better writer to tighten up the script, we might be talking about a PAX TV series franchise today. If you check either of these features out, you will undoubtedly recognize some familiar faces amongst the cast. For the longest time, I always thought the movie TV series pilot "Strange New World" (1975) was a Gene Roddenberry creation, as it was so similar to "Genesis II", but it seems that Gene wasn't involved after all, but I wouldn't be surprised that the writer did drawn inspiration from Gene's previous works. I really believe this movie was a big inspiration for a RPG called "The Morrow Project" initially released in the 1980's. There the PCs played members of an organization that were put in suspended hibernation with lots of equipment to help them rebuild civilization after an expected WW III. Naturally stuff happens and the characters wake up more or less isolated from the rest of the organization that survived, so must work independently. The players tend to be members of the 3 main groups Military, Science and Recon. Naturally you can see there was an emphasis on military aspects, but one of their flagship military/mobile laboratory vehicles looked like it came straight out of Damnation Alley or Ark II

Yeah, Gene Roddenberry was.... mm. Maybe the less said the better. I can't imagine it would be fun being an attractive young woman om jos vicinity. Damn shame though, her character is so charming, I'd expect she'd have got along with people and had at least a decent time. Didn't know Gene was so "hands on" with the episode, and hopefully just the episode
