I was so anxious to witness your reaction upon seeing actor William Campbell AKA Captain Koloth AKA General Trelane (Retired) in this episode.
I have to admit this episode ranks high on my list of favorite episode. This episode also probably presents one of the least threatening to Kirk's crew and ship, but most frustrating day Captain Kirk had to power through. Fortunately for Kirk, one of the sources of his frustrations also became a solution of uncovering both the problem with the grain and the Klingon saboteur.

Irwin Allen was very big in the 60s with grand scale TV shows like Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, Land of the Giants, Lost in Space, and last but not least, The Time Tunnel. He always had nearly the same crew with him. Paul Zastupnevich for costume design, L.B. Abbot for cinematography, William Creber for set design and practical effects, and music with John (Johnny) Williams. He transitioned to filmmaking with the Towering Inferno and the Poseidon Adventure. The first episode of Time Tunnel was the only real good one but if you like campy over the top sensational showmanship then it's for you. I suggest doing a reaction to it. Also, there was a TV movie/pilot with Stuart Whitman and Robert Wagner called City Beneath the Sea, if you can even find it, lol.

Time Tunnel? Why does that seem so familiar to me? I know I didn't see it so now I'm wondering if I didn't run across it during a 'Q and A'.
Hmmmm
Thank you for the info, my friend! Will report back if I ever remember where I heard about Time Tunnel before :)

William Schallert (who played Mr. Barris) was a very well known actor who popped up in 60s television as a generally liked and friendly person. To see him as a bit of a negative was a deviation from his normal roles. The station manager also was featured in a lot of 60s television as an authority figure and favorite uncle type. I liked him as a general in the short-lived series Time Tunnel.

Odd as this may sound, you might want to look up a 5th season (I believe) ep of DS9, “Trials and Tribbleations” as it’s this episode but the DS9 crew are cut into it beautifully and seamlessly. It continues the tradition of kickass 24th century woman wanting to get some Funky Spock. There’s also a HILARIOUS Short Trek with H Jon Benjamin about them.
