Case Study #2 - The Expanse 1x6-2x3 FULL LENGTH Analysis

Tree limbs are cracking everywhere, as I share some truly ridiculous theories.

Case in point...I give Miller a D&D class...warlock :)

Case Study #2 - The Expanse 1x6-2x3 FULL LENGTH Analysis

Hi there, I´m still catching up here and as I already commented on your case study #1: This type of format between reactions (at least for me) is really unique and a suberp addition: Your breakdown of the story told so far, using the informations, facts, character actions and character development to to formulate theories. Furthermore and AGAIN: This presentation of your organized thoughts and theories is so very well done and simply EXELLENT! Thank you for that!! PS: Of course, your reaction videos are also hella entertaining, including the paranoid tendencies ...^^ Greetings from Germany!

Well you will not cringe at all of them! LOL

Thanks. You are in for a wild ride with this show, and the best is still in front of you. For story the second half of Season 3 starting with "Delta-V" is probably, arguably, the series high water mark. For character development, especially your boy Amos as well as a couple of others who either haven't been introduced or gotten fully spotlighted yet, i'd go with season 5.

I shall look back and cringe at these 'theories' :D So much fun to do though! Thank you for watching, my friend!

Thanks, G :D Can't wait to cringe when I look back on them!

Great stuff, my friend!

The thing about Miller seeing Julie isn't necessarily related to the proto-molecule. The simplest explanation for his visions of her is that they are hallucinations brought on by a combination of emotional and physiological trauma. Vision Julie is a manifestation of Miller's guilt and regrets. You can also interpret her as a psychopomp [ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psychopomp ] of sorts (*). Miller is not a healthy man, in body or mind. He starts the show as a borderline burnout, and gets progressively worse as the blows keep coming: losing his job as a detective, losing his oldest friend Semi, and even the one thing he did still cared about, finding and rescuing his chosen redeemer/spirit animal Julie Mao, ultimately ends in failure. On top of all that he also is hit by a massive dose of hard radiation. Medical science in the Expanse universe has advanced sufficiently to keep Holden and him from dying outright, but not enough to prevent permanent damage (like their becoming sterile). With that kind of full body exposure there will almost certainly be neurological damage that, even with the impressive regenerative technologies shown, will leave behind some scarring of the brain tissue. Post Eros you can see Miller is not just tired, he's _done_. Every word he says, every action he takes, are those of a man who, while perhaps not actively suicidal, has become so emotionally divested from his personal survival you can practically hear 'Deguello' faintly playing at his back whenever he walks into a room. Anyways, just my 0.02 EUR of course. YMMV. (c: ____________________________________________ * = The show is loaded with the proverbial f#ck ton of symbolism and mythological references (Avasarala even goes so far as to lampshade this with her commentary about Earth's destruction of Deimos). It is no coincidence that Miller's savings from the payoffs he has accumulated are stored in the form of casino chips. When he leaves Ceres to look for Julie on Eros (the god of love and desire). He _literally_ 'cashes out', paying coins (in a chashless society) for a ferry man (Charon). Or that Miller only starts seeing Vision Julie, his underworld guide, after he's been 'killed' by the radiation blast in Leviathan Wakes. Or that locations related to Julie are all named for deities of the afterlife like Anubis (the Guide of Souls and Weigher of Hearts) and Thoth (the Scribe of Judgement), both members of the Egyptian tribunal of the underworld who sit in judgement of the souls of the dead.

Great theories!

Just going to say "WOW".

However long you spend going through the show it will never be enough. Then you can join us in living vicariously through others, if you have the time.

Thank you for the support, my friend!

Fury Roll

Thank you, my friend! Going to try and spend as much time as possibly in the Expanse. Have to make it last :)

Thank you, my friend!

HaHa Thank you, my friend :D

Can't wait to see where this amazing story is going!

Love your views and theories. They’re really interesting! Are they right? Well, they’re really interesting.

T. Arnold Ferguson

I love your theories. I'm not going to say if you are right or wrong. I can tell you it will blow your mind.

This is why I tapped in to the pay to play. It is awesome to watch a person dive into this for real. This show is a deep well and it rarely disappoints. While the story is not complete (books 7-9), they nail it on adaptation. This series is about the gray lines.

Matt Drahos

Really appreciate you for making these! The flowcharts are an awesome touch.

Roger Kingsland

These case studies are great because we can gauge where you are in your head, what's your thought process on things you know, before jumping to the mind-bending next episodes ;)
