The Expanse 1x7 - 'Windmills' FULL LENGTH Reaction & Review

Comments

That's right! Thank you for that, my friend!

First time commenter... Awesome reaction as always. Just a point of clarification. The show has already established that Chrisjen's son died at the hands of the OPA. She had a conversation in a prior episode with Sadavir Errinwright about her son being killed and if her actions towards Fred Johnson and getting the spy was personal. Her response to Errinwright was "you're damn right its personal."

@Roger Kingsland That was my exact thoughts. The whole thing he mentioned is one great part of what The Expanse does so no one should have that spoiled via warnings. Hell, while I have a reaction regarding Warp's reaction I also know it's better for him to experience the ride for himself like we all did!

I would not have bothered with this comment. The great thing about The Expanse is a person taking the unique ride for themselves without a spoiler forewarning. You say you want to avoid spoilers but the comment in itself is one if you really think it through. You're taking away a part of what makes The Expanse a great experience! I would've hated if someone gave me the warning you just gave.

Shawn Anomaly

With all respect―perhaps this sort of comment isn't really necessary? We never had anyone tempering our expectations when we first watched; I think WR deserves the same experience.

A really cool detail, if you like costumes, is that for every scene Chrisjen is in she's wearing something different. Her outfits are stunning! That opening scene of her trudging through the snow is such a good shot, until we pan out and see there's a perfectly good road she could be walking on... LMAO! That always gets me xD In the ttrpg for The Expanse, the Churn mechanic is like a threat meter/corruption bar. Things happen that move the counter up, and when you get to 10 (iirc) something is supposed to happen. Like a build up of tension, if you like. There are a couple details I want to share but they're semi-spoilery (not for the plot though) that would help with your theories, so I really hope I remember to say it later on xD Next episode is a gooder!

The Actor playing Kenzo also auditioned for Amos but lost out to Wes Chatham whom you now know as the Great Amos! I think that was a blow for him but eventually even the actor felt that the choice was a good one. Just a brief point, on most ships there is a hull space between inner and outer hulls (for conduit as per Naomi) where there is no air as that would be wasteful. so to do any work in there you have to "suit up". The actress playing Elise Holden is Frances Fisher (also seen in the Titanic as Rose's mother!) She is top notch and a real addition to the show! Her dialogue with Chrisjen is amazing.

I think his threat, to stop Amos from killing people who do not deserve death, shows how Paladin-like he is. Sure, they try to do good all the time, but they are also doing it out of principle and not just for personal benefit or when it is convinient. And I share your sentiment for Kenzo, he is great. I kind of like how he can talk to everyone, even Amos, who freaks him out and constantly convincingly threatens his life. It took him but a second to get Amos to share how he views the world, and then he tries to adapt to it. He also sneaks his opinion into the conversation whenever he can and does not freak out or lose control if he gets shut down right away. People without control would throw a tantrum - Kenzo just moves on to another opportunity and slowly but surely gets his point heard. Great depiction of a spy and yeah kinda fits the rogue, at least one a bit more sophisticated, of the group.

Thank you so much for your kind words, Lukas. Amos grabbed my attention from the very start. Normally I'm not a fan of the 'fighter' types but Amos is a different breed. I hope he makes it but my track record is so bad with favorite characters :( Regardless I will be a fan of Amos forever. Appreciate you, my friend!

God, I love your reactions, you may honestly be the best Expanse reactor I have watched and I have watched many if not all. Only problem is one really have to be carefull in what to say because you are very catchy on details. Only thing I dare to say is that we both share favorite character in Amos, and however short or long his journey will be, I dare to say he wont dissappoint you. The actor was I think the only one who actually know the book series at the time and who specifically wanted to play Amos character and you can see he is doing the best. He even did his personal research on the character based on what he know about the character's past from the books so he can play him the best. Anyway thank you for fantastic reaction and I will count days until your next reaction :-)
