Likely they had clauses and whatnot in case they needed to cancel it or anything but I'll bet the first batch was received well enough that they went full steam ahead. (I remember them having mid season trailers for ssn 1 and 2 but since then they've been guaranteed a season ahead) And Ransom is amazing, but they took their time to highlight him but he's a great officer and they do show it as it goes along. And the very chipper "I'm going to go find a boulder!" is the best.
