Sometimes you get immersed into context-less situations, and you have to figure your way out of them. Later on, you begin to understand what had happened. Your reaction to this chapter, and the whole arc, is the one I was going for. It's supposed to be intrusive, confusing, and a trip.

I must say that having all this lighthouse stuff is SUPER out of left field and lacking a book's worth of context to the degree that skipping it is probably the best choice. I understand this story was prefaced as a self insert but holy crap this is intrusive. like someone cut out pages of a different story and stuck them in the climax of this one....few chapters later, ya, kind of a buzz kill that is just one random thing out of context after another. it's not exciting, is just a big interruption.
