Ahoy!
This post will be a doozie.
Firstly, this wasn't planned at all, an old friend of my brothers from my hometown hit me up and said he always wanted to hear me do a cover for Power Rangers. I was always like ehhhh, but woo, I'm glad I did. The whole project took me a day to execute.
First up, song details:
180 BPM
Standard tuning
7 guitars (4 rhythms, 2 leads, 1 super lead)
MIDI drum track voiced with a realistic drum VST
For the most part, I kept the song almost intact as the original.. but that's boring. I basically made it a little thrashier and threw my own spin on it. The middle section where the instruments break and that huge high pitched note comes in was not the original idea. That was going to be some shred solo, but I couldn't think of anything that fit. So I went with the Dimebag Darrell inspired whammy bar stuff (Pantera guitarist)
The rest is pretty straight forward, but if you have a sharp ear, you can hear where I added harmonies / octaves to make the whole song seem "bigger."
Enclosed in this post is a Patreon exclusive private link to a 2nd performance of me doing the rhythm section only, in case maybe someone wanted to learn this? (It's not that hard.)
Also included are the following audio stems:
The full cover
Rhythm section
Just rhythm guitars
Just lead guitars
Stay tuned for more posts!
