Chapter 1050 - A Whole New World

For several seconds, Jake’s Soulspace was reminiscent of the void as nearly nothing existed there. The only clue that it was even his Soulspace was the sky of arcane mana that still remained, unaffected by the changes to come, as there, quite frankly, was nothing to improve on. At least not directly. All improvements would come from bringing the sky in balance with the rest of the Soulspace.

Even as Jake’s body was dispersed, he didn’t immediately regenerate it. Instead, he became one with this sky as he felt everything at once. Jake had never actively thought much about how his Soulspace should look like, and neither did he do so this time around.

Instead, he moved according to what felt most natural – and truly, was anything more Jake-like than leaving everything to instinct? Hence, rather than actually design anything with thoughtful intent, Jake proceeded to simply act.

The skies roared, and the First Sage willingly retreated and gave Jake space as the Soulspace began to surge with energy as countless particles appeared from the nothingness, swirling as matter was created. The ground was formed first, no longer the dead gray rock as before, but soil teeming with life and energy.

With a thought – intent behind the action this time not for what he wanted, but for it to happen - the world blossomed. Grass, the color of Jake’s arcane mana spread out across the land, and countless plants resembling herbs and other shrubs began to rapidly grow everywhere the eye could see. Occasionally, massive trunks sprang from the ground, covered in leaves that looked like crystals, and within moments, an enormous forest was born, continuing into an endless horizon.

Above, the sky continued to churn as the arcane mana connected to the ground, a cycle forming as the newly grown trees and other plants began to greedily absorb the energy from above. This exchange happened intermittently, with bolts of arcane mana resembling lightning descending upon the many trees, infusing the world below with arcane energy that turned from its destructive form into stable energy, making the trees grow further.

Finally, there was the last piece of the puzzle. The one thing that would complete the Soulspace.

A single humanoid figure manifested as Jake reformed his body. Bolts of lightning immediately struck him as he appeared, and a torrent of energy surged from below, making him feel an intimate connection with the Soulspace, surpassing anything prior.

At that moment, as Jake realized the new shape of his Soulspace, he couldn’t help but think about a concept he’d read about a long time ago... one he had definitely butchered with his interpretation of his Soulspace, but hey, he barely remembered what it had been about in the first place.

Still, he thought it fit.

Heaven, earth, man. The heaven was his mana, the earth his inner energy, and man his vital energy. Each, they complimented one another, and together they formed the soul of Jake Thayne.

With this interpretation, Jake finally opened his eyes. The First Sage saw Jake regain his body and smiled before he instantly stormed at him. However, rather than get another good smacking, Jake merely raised a hand as he blocked the palm strike of the old man. Jake felt a shockwave of energy reverberate through his body as he pushed back with all his power.

Their clash sent out a shockwave that tore through the Soulspace, yet failed to even topple any of the trees as the ground was too stable for them to so easily destroy. The result of their clash was that the old man was sent staggering back, small cracks forming on his hand.

“Good... very good,” the First Sage said as he looked at his hand that was quickly healing. “Do you feel it surging? Embrace that feeling and let it carry you forward.”

With a small nod, Jake focused on the feeling that was indeed there. When the First Sage had struck him just now, that palm strike had been like a blacksmith’s hammer giving that final push to solidify Jake’s newly created body.

With it solidified, so did the rest of the Soulspace around him as he felt something within him begin to grow. Grow and change. His chest felt warm, and he knew a skill upgrade was coming, but something about this one felt far different from any prior he had ever had. Something else than merely a rarity was changing, and luckily for Jake, the system allowed him to know what was happening as he was flooded with system messages.

Incompatible Skill Upgrade Records for [Anomalous Soul of the Heretic-Chosen (Legendary)] detected.

Skill Upgrade changing to Skill Mutation.

Congratulations! Your [Anomalous Soul of the Heretic-Chosen (Legendary)] has successfully mutated from a Profession skill into a Race skill.

Skill Upgraded:[Anomalous Soul of the Heretic-Chosen (Legendary)] – Heresy and orthodoxy united in one body, power claimed from both. To be both a Chosen and a Heretic requires not only mental deviancy but a truly anomalous soul to reconcile opposing concepts. A soul that only grows more unique as you walk further on your Path as a Heretic-Chosen. Due to your connection to your Patron, your mana will begin to carry faint hints and morcels of the Records of the Malefic Viper when crafting poisons, making each creation more potent. Due to your identity as a heretic, this is not granted but taken, resulting in significantly increased mana expenditure during this process. As your soul mutates, so does it get empowered, allowing it to break convention. Going forward, every stat point in Wisdom increases your Mana Points by 12.5 rather than 10. May your very existence become an anomaly that shuns normalcy for power as you continue paving your own Path as a Heretic-Chosen. Note that this skill results in a permanent change. Losing your status as a Heretic-Chosen or your profession will make the skill further mutate and transition into a race skill.

-->

[Anomalous Arcane Soul (Mythical)] – Heretic and Chosen. Stability and Destruction. Intelligence and Instinct. You walk a Path of paradoxes, forever maintaining a tight balance as you strive to bring your unique Path toward perfection. Due to your connection to your Patron, your mana will begin to carry faint hints and morcels of the Records of the Malefic Viper when crafting poisons, making each creation more potent at the cost of significantly increased mana expenditure as you forcefully lay claim to these Records. Soul energy floods your vital and inner energies, allowing your soul to remain far more stable even when the body is destroyed or heavily damaged. As a result of your soul successfully mutating to better fit your Path, it can store more energy than regular beings, resulting in every stat point in Wisdom, Vitality, and Endurance increasing your Mana Points, Health Points, and Stamina by 12.5 rather than 10. Immensely increases your capability to convert your energies while reducing loss during the process. Latent potential in your soul has been unlocked, allowing you far more control within your Soulspace. May your soul continue to grow toward eternity as your Path evolves.

Notice: Your skill [Anomalous Arcane Soul (Mythical)] has been moved from Profession Skills to Race Skills on the status menu.

Jake could barely focus on reading the flood of messages as the feeling of having something so fundamentally change within him was honestly goddamn euphoric. The change was sadly relatively quick after the system got involved and took him through the entire process as his Soulspace had now fully stabilized. Everything in there had calmed, and not far away, he saw the shadowy figure of Eternal Hunger appear, sitting cross-legged within a small dark clearing. Not far away, the drop of blood from the Viper was also back, creating a small area around itself with no life or arcane mana.

Seeing no need to mess with either of them, Jake turned his attention to the actual skill upgrade, and damn did he have some notes.

This was his first time seeing a skill change category like that, though he did know it was possible, and the original Anomalous Soul had already warned him it would happen if he lost his status as a Heretic-Chosen. Now it had mutated and changed because Jake caused it, but he couldn’t say the original skill being primed to being capable of doing so didn’t play a huge part.

Thinking about it, perhaps his interpretation that his Soulspace was akin to the Malefic Viper’s Divine Realm had helped him to get offered the Anomalous Soul of the Heretic-Chosen in the first place. However, now, Jake had severed that connection entirely, even if the skill retained the effects it had while a profession skill. It was true the Path of the Malefic Viper influenced Jake’s, but his Path was still entirely his own, and so was his soul. The drop of blood was merely a guest in his Soulspace, and the Records from the Viper Jake possessed were ones Jake had entirely taken. Even if Villy was their Origin, the second they became part of Jake’s Path, he no longer viewed Villy as having any form of ownership. He wasn’t a faithful Chosen after all, but as much a filthy heretic who was all about taking without asking.

When it came to the name of the skill, he had some mixed emotions. Anomalous Arcane Soul sounded so... basic. It didn’t sound like a mythical skill at all, and in truth, Jake had kind of expected to see another “of the Primal Hunter” skill. However, when he really thought more about it, did he really want that? Did it even make sense?

Because there was no fucking way that the Soul of the Primal Hunter was merely a mythical rarity skill. So, seeing the skill look so basic could be viewed as a good thing, as it meant there was plenty of room for further improvement down the line.

Anyhow, moving on to the actual skill itself and its effects, everything it did was entirely passive, which Jake definitely wasn’t going to complain about. From an immediate assessment, the biggest upgrade was definitely that his resource pools for Stamina and Health Points had just expanded by 25%, matching the existing bonus increase it had already given to his mana.

Needless to say, that was an utterly massive upgrade. Alongside this, he could already feel how much more easily Jake could transform the different energies within his body from one into the other. He had essentially created connections that allowed exchange within his Soulspace through the balance he’d achieved. Jake wasn’t sure if this improved ability to exchange energy would have any tangible effects while fighting as it still wasn’t very efficient and still took time and a bit of concentration, but hey, the option was now there.

Then, there was the newly added section talking about his soul growing more stable. Jake still wasn’t entirely sure what this meant, or if it even meant anything at all to him, as Jake was already pretty damn stable and quick to react even while heavily damaged, but he got the feeling this change would prove useful. Mainly the portion where it mentioned his body being destroyed... but all of that was for later experimentation.

The final part of the skill description mentioned Jake unlocking latent potential, allowing him far more control within his Soulspace. This was the most obvious part of the upgrade as that was what Jake had been doing all this time with the First Sage, and it bode well for Jake to further upgrade the skill in the future. He knew there were things he would now be able to do using his Soulspace, with the possibilities effectively endless. Technically, he already had those abilities before, but now he knew he had them.

Now, Jake did know that while this kind of upgrade was absolutely awesome, it was technically too awesome. Experiencing such a fundamental change to his soul was bound to have some consequences, which the First Sage would soon gladly outline as the old man stood with a big smile as he looked at Jake.

“Congratulations are in order,” the First Sage said, no longer bothering with infusing his voice with any energy as the lesson was over.

The two of them had landed on the ground while Jake went through the skill upgrade, and with a mental command, Jake summoned a table for them to sit at out of politeness.

“Thank you,” Jake said with a small bow before he took a seat.

“No need for thanks, you’re effectively my grand disciple,” the First Sage waved him off casually before he turned a bit more serious. “Our time remains short, so let us skip further celebrations and pleasantries. Seeing as you already had your soul mutate once, I assume you know of the drawbacks?”

Jake nodded slightly as he still asked. “I think I do, but if I’ve learned anything today, it’s that sometimes my base assumptions can be really off.”

The First Sage chuckled a bit as he explained: “As your vessel expands, so does what’s needed to fill it. The Records required for every one of your evolutions will be higher than before, making them more difficult and the quests harder, especially for your race evolution. You will also need more experience points for every level gained going forward, resulting in each level taking longer. Now, I call these drawbacks, but let me clarify: I do not actually see them as such. While it may appear detrimental on the surface, the more Records and the more experience you gather in your mortal years, the happier you’ll be in the future that you struggled in your youth as you approach divinity.”

“Yeah, that tracks with what I already knew,” Jake nodded, as he did bite onto one thing. The First Sage mentioned Jake’s evolutions getting harder, specifically pointing out the race quest, but so far, Jake had never once struggled with evolving, and he didn’t believe he would for B-grade either. Especially seeing as he didn’t even have race evolution quests. This could mean that the old man didn’t know about this part of Jake... and honestly, he felt kinda good about at least having some secrets in front of a man who seemed almost omniscient.

“I suspected as much. Vilas should have taught you some things, seeing as you are his Chosen,” the First Sage nodded with a smile before he sighed. “Alas, let the lesson fully end here. It’s soon time for me to go and for you to return to your time and reality. Would you have the honor of destroying this Record Fragment?”

Jake looked at the old man for a second before shaking his head. “I thought you said the lesson was over, so why the test? We both know I’m not capable of doing that.”

With Jake’s increased control of his Soulspace, he could also far better analyze the being sitting in front of him and the Records this image of the First Sage was made from. It was a mere fragment, yes, but the Records within it felt absolutely horrifying to try and destroy. Jake wanted to compare it to the power of the drop of blood or when Villy had briefly popped into his Soulspace when he fucked up Palete, but both comparisons felt wrong.

Even now, Jake truly couldn’t see through the old man, and he wasn’t sure if he ever would. All he did know with certainty was that if the First Sage had truly entered Jake’s Soulspace with the intent to break him...

“In fact, I’m pretty sure if you wanted to, you could have effectively killed me,” Jake sighed, following up his prior words.

The First Sage was silent for a moment as he looked toward the sky and squinted. When he did, Jake felt his heart beat strongly a single time as the old man spoke, shaking his head. “I’m not entirely confident I would have had a good ending either.”

I fkg LOVE this series. Thank you, pls don't stop writing. 🙏

Anamolii

Even more hinting towards Jake’s Bloodline being insane.

Greedsmith

It maybe he will embody perception itself

dash w

I think you're on to something. Maybe the Sage went on the path of divinity from the opposite direction. Kept upgrading his soul while never really leveling up and going through grades past C grade. We still don't know enough but I like this theory even if I can't explain it well

First thing I thought of as well XD

I really like this new upgrade path for Jake. Having complete control of his soul realm is a really cool concept. My brain immediately thought of the possibility of having his heart at the centre of his soul space with blood vessels that stitch together his records by physically providing the life force to the vegetation in his metaphorical world. Also having a mini Villy in his soul space being the representation of all the legacy skills instead of just the drop of blood representing his sagacity skill would be cool so he can have both his hunter and alchemist profession equally represented in his soul space.

Pickled Rick

Curse you now I'm thinking of that song!

Troy Telford

Well there is a difference between being able to do sth and doing sth. Even if he could, i don’t think he would. Like you said, it would suppress all the fun. Rather, I think it will be written similarly to Villy’s omniscience skill

Lizy Flore

Common Uncommon Rare Ancient Legendary Mythical Divine Primordial Unique

Mohammed Sheekh

Ok I read the comment about the song from Aladdin “A Whole New World” being stuck in their head and now it’s stuck in my head whenever I see this chpt title! Curses! Lol!

ABTelford

Perhaps but I’ve seen others post fixes that were responded too and not be deleted. But I guess whoever posts them could delete their comments after it’s fixed. It’s a very FS thing to do so the system doesn’t get upset. My views remain unchanged. Zog is a disciple of the FS. ;)

John Durrett

Think of it as vital energy, the way I interpret is basically it allows them to regenerate

Killinger Ryan

My theory is that he might be able to do the arya control he did when he foth Valdemare. Atleast to a small degree. 😁

Mats

Oh! Thats a good possibility!

ABTelford

Trial of myriad poisons back in book 2 after the tutorial was done and Jake went to do some kick ass time warped alchemy with vodka. And the mana was increased from 10 to 12.5(per point of wisdom) from the anomalous soul of the heretic chosen skill but also increased by 25% my the mask of the fallen king.

Mike

So with a stronger more stable soul is his Primal Gaze going to hit harder?

Fervent Fiend

I think "divine" is similar to "unique" and "transcendent" in that it's a specific category outside the typical ranks of skills

Jack Dawson

I think he is the type of guy who is 19 years old and has it all figured out; sees truth in places where there is no lie.

Baged

O M G people!!! Go back and reread the books. Villy’s blood drop was stolen when Jake did the poison test way back when. Also, his mana got the main increase at double what his other main stats got. Awesome work as usual.

Naomi Roberts

He already forgot Stormild asked him to say hi to the FS xD

Gingerlochs

Just cause he can see it doesn’t mean he can kill it

Borbino the great

I agree, that's why I could totally see it be a book, or possibly a library. Really exciting to see what happens in the next chapter!

Mike

I could definitely see the Records of the First Sage taking on a form in his Soulspace - I mean let's face it, he already has a universe destroying curse, a simulacrum that shouldn't exist, AND a drop of primordial blood! Yeah his soul rn is a primordial forest but remember, Jake loves to read - the First Sage is/was a Librarian, and Jake needs somewhere to keep all these records he's collecting!

Gingerlochs

Jake is really becoming a raid boss now. Increased health per point??? Soon he'll be the final boss to different groups of enemies. All he needs is a lair and a masterplan!

Numbzy

Think people are reporting typos, Zog marks them as fixed and the individual removes their post.

Sam

Did the sage get such powerful records by doing soulrealm upgrades early in his development? Perhaps also the source of his perception/abilities with records?

Andrew P

Ha!

Hayden Leech

Same, literally no idea what the guy is trying to say.

Zogarth

Hmmmm now you’ve also got me curious.

Tsurani

Health points as a concept has always been a bit out of place in this series. The concept is kind of ignored in fights, which is fine by me. The litrpg trope of dying when an arbitrary number reaches 0 was always a bit odd.

11037

Yeah I’m not sure how it could make a good story either, sounds like a cool power, but what would the training montage even look like,,, and after that there is no point to any story anymore he would just see and know everything

King Nereus

Nothing.

Eivind Aabakken

What happened?

Azayrian105

I think repairing the palate is next. Given his soul space is much stronger now.

Marc Jay Arr Cotamora

This has been my theory for a while as well. Like in the future people will say not to speak ill of the PH as he sees all or something lol. Being able to mark anyone in existence and fire an arrow that you can not escape.

Mike

It would be awesome but I am unsure if it's possible. The FS is just too OP even as a talking buddy. Now I could see the first sage and Jake working to maybe transmute himself into records that become a fixture in the soul space, maybe a book. Not sure how he would interact with it though. Maybe something similar to the vipers blood.

Mike

True plus he gets extra perception with each bloodline upgrade just trying to stir the pot

Red45jimster

Yeah, I know, that's why I referenced us knowing Divine is a rank already.

FeelingsandFoibles

It would be nice if he could keep the first sage in his soulspace like eternal hunger, and the drop of blood. It would be a good gimmick to allow dialogue when he is by himself.

KenTX325

Shroud is Devine

KenTX325

Oh Zog, you've got us good. Even when I see you, I can't help but be impressed and hand out the money. You're getting very close though, much more on the nose and the consumers will notice. Good on ya though for giving yourself an extended contract! This is not a bitter comment, I'm seriously impressed and in awe of what you've achieved. Keep the goalpost in mind though, for posterity, retirement and potential legacy. You're much more than your money and PH.

Eivind Aabakken

To true! It helps me understand the current chapters better because the 1st time around I only remember the big lines not all the little things that make up the story.

Sarianne Roodenburg

Amazing chapter! I am curious as to when we’re going to see how his soul flame is doing in the forgotten soul cradle 👀

Luis Sosa

I think it will end up a cycle like death supports live than dies. Most creators have similar ideas and ideologies.

Deborah martins

I like this train of thought. I hope he still keeps that sphere small though, so he won’t be omniscient. That would be pretty boring

Quintuscus

My understanding from Villy’s explanation is that forbidden knowledge can be learned through first hand organic experience (i.e. not told or shown by someone else). This also has to be the case because it was very heavily implied others beside Villy have some forbidden knowledge, just not nearly as much due to his bloodline overwriting the memory wipe when forbidden knowledge is shared with him. Because Jake interacted directly with FS in his vision, he is able to retain his knowledge while everyone who just heard about him lost their knowledge. I also think FS becoming forbidden knowledge is the direct result of the two of them interacting, forcing the system to take actions to prevent a repeat in the future. As has been mentioned, the system is always learning and adapting and avoiding serious timeline fuckery would absolutely be something the system would want to correct.

Oblivion

One of my pet theories is that when his bloodline will reach a 100% completion, he will be able to see… everything. Even the system. Even records, or time, or souls, or other dimensions. Even unintegrated universes. And in that case, he WILL need to be able to process it all. I’m actually expecting a bloodline training arc at some point, and I cannot wait for it.

Lizy Flore

I’m pretty sure this is how he will kill a god once he reaches S rank. Impose his soul on their divine realm and usurp it since he could already dominate other peoples soul spaces as seen with the demon prince and the manifestation of his eyes in the sky.

Oblivion

Debatable but - Unique - could be counted as such

Steven Myer

The only other is “Unique” Aside from that this hierarchy has never been outlined, only hinted at.

BearHandMan

Looks like Jake stole something from Villy and made it his own. Awesome!

Michael Ferguson

Makes you wonder when he reaches god hood, if his perception sphere will reach out through whole universes and more.

Krispy sock

Nice thank you for the chapter

joel southard

I'm not talking about the other resources, but the Jake Juice is an extremely limited resource and a 25% increase to its capacity and regeneration doesn't really mean too much.

austin kutz

Thanks for the chapter.

Joshua Little

Have the rarities above mythical ever been named? I know we have divine, but, like, where is that on the scale when it's been hinted there are quite a few above mythical? Especially considering the stages/ranks of gods, as well

FeelingsandFoibles

Just got done with a reread over the break myself. Feels like there is so much to pick up on in each reread. Enjoy!

Mike

It is definitely going to be fun seeing what all Jake smacks his soul against and all his other uses. His boosting skill is going to be OP

Ty Cooper

Undead isn't an affinity the Blightfathers Arcane affinity is the Blight affinity. Undead is a category of beings

Exodus Uno

I do wonder, one part of me feels like there is something between Mythical and Divine. But at the same time with skill rarity reclassifications what is Mythical in each grade is re defined. So I don't know when we will see the much hyped above Mythical. I also can't forget the Viper mentioned his staff is above Divine. Not sure if he meant it is an actual rarity above Divine or if it's Divine but a step above other Divine rarity stuff. So much to look forward to!

Mike

He did sort of explain why he wanted Villy to kill him. FS said that if he didn't die the Villy wouldn't be who he was now, and that since he was so strong there wouldn't be any balance among the gods.

TyranT-Rex

I’m hoping this upgrade fixes his sphere of perception finally. He will be B grade soon and if he doesn’t find a way to deal with it he will be crippled in b grade. I think it’s likely he will have to upgrade his soul to handle his sphere and rest of the bloodline. I think this is likely because it’s already been shown in the last chapter that souls strength effects how much information can be taken in at once.

Elijah Soleil

Curious to how long it’ll be before you can manifest his soul realm into the physical domain

Daniel Hamilton

Remember back to when Villy discovered FS was now forbidden knowledge was with Eversmile after Nevermore. He checked with Snappy and he had forgotten something he should have known about. The viper mentioned the system does not normally do this and that it felt more like a transcendence. He knew it couldn't have been Eversmiles karmic annihilation since it felt different and figured the FS made himself forbidden knowledge. With this information we can reasonably deduce he either excluded Jake on purpose or because he was not able to know about Jake. As mentioned before we went to break FS knew about everyone but Jake pretty much.

Mike

I like how Zog pointed out there is no damn way we would get a of the primal hunter skill for his soul this early. For it to live up to that name it would have to be truly OP. Love how even the first sage recognized if Jakes bloodline triggered even he would have had a bad time. Considering the FS recomended destroying the record fragment maybe he will help Jake out with it? Great chapter all around! Now we have so much waiting for us back in the 93rd, the whole Holy Church thing, King Iludar, and the heart of the desolate child of loss. This year is shaping up to be a fun ride.

Mike

I think he realized that this was a lesson and taking a shortcut like that would have been detrimental so using the origin energy would only have interfered with his growth amd the challenge.

Zack Leach

Perhaps as the first sage is effectively a primeval being with original pre-system human records, Jake is able to remember him due to his bloodline's connection to the primeval origins of the system.

NerdyFellow

Which part?

Malkken

He looked into the abyss and the abyss looked back

Mat

No this old man is dead, gone and his path ended. Buy into the only way for Villy to get the bloodline was for him to die especially with the Bloodline tied to the Truesoul. Resurrection throughs a racket into the system retrieving the truesoul upon death and recycling the bloodlines

Mat

The FS has a transcendent skill made to shorten his life, so he can destroy himself his fragment.

Mat

Yeah, him talking to Jake's bloodline like Stewart said is a cool idea I hadn't considered. Hopefully we get some concreteness!

Chewbacchus

I'm also wondering what happened there at the end. Maybe he saw some representation of Jake's bloodline or Jake Juice? Is Jake gonna have a new resident in his soul realm?

FringeZtar

Not specifically mentioned, but it has to do with Jake's profession as the heretic chosen alchemist of the malefic Viper. It states "you learn more about the Path your Patron once followed, his struggles, and even his mortality. Secrets most ancient beings would wish forgotten lay bare before you as you gaze upon Records only known by the Malefic One. "

BumAssBumAss

Hm. I think the stability aspect of his new soul might be under represented here. Are soul attacks going to be less effective on him? Soul damage in general? Will he recover from his bloodline faster? Perhaps it’s something he can lean into later

Sloth

@The Uub put it best. When you have maxed the levels but do not have enough records to evolve, the option just does not appear. To evolve you will then need to gather more records until the system offers the evolution. Potentials characters who have experienced this are Hank's d-grade evolution delay with maxed professional, Valdemar ascension delayed with a maxed class and demigods who fail to ascend.

Mat

Presumably, the system has decided to ‘whitelist’ Jake and allow him to remember. I actually think this is foreshadowing something between the sage and Jake, though I’m not exactly sure what.

Sloth

reverend insanity reference?

Hussein Zenki

Ik villy has the bloodline not to forget, but jake doesn’t. It seems to reason that jake shouldn’t be able to remember any convo or this interaction, yet he does. Is his bloodline just like “F you system, im gonna remember and you can suck me cuz im better than you”?

Josh Hietpas

Question: if the FS is forbidden knowledge, how can jake remember him and discuss him? Like was it just a one time wipe from the universe? I thought it was a continued wipe by the system.

Josh Hietpas

Okay so basically a anomalous soul is such a powerful thing that the price for gaining it is it increases the exp requirements for leveling that is something but yeah now I can’t wait to see how Jake improves his soul from now on

Phoenixdrop

That last sentence of the first sage..damnn.. Jake is so badass🤣

Roy Boy Meyer

Nah, I remember Villy saying that Minaga was truly broken and a mistake to even exist because every minaga has it owns identical true soul

Jordan Mazza

Nah this was always going to happen. If anything it makes Jake even less of a target for Villys record transmutation

Gavin

Minaga is unique so I suspect that this would be unique in experience for minaga as well

Gavin

Lol what? 25% is massive especially considering he already has massive resource pools.

Gavin

Perception. Over. Everything.

Azazel

Niiiiiiice!

Azazel

Interesting

Kuniku778

Hahaha I fell vindicated. A couple chapters ago I talked about how Jake’s bloodline is comparable to FS. It’s coming true Jake is under a lot more restriction then the FS was and I think his bloodline will be stronger than the FS by godhood

Gumwadd

He was looking at Jake. The part of him that is his bloodline. The first thing thathappens when something interacts with Jake's bloodline his his heart thumps or something.

Stuart Thwaites

Good question. Look back to the Chosen unveiling ceremony. Miranda at that point in time could have already evolved and had her perfect evolution, but she waited to handle the ceremony and deal with all the gifts and slaves before she evolved so she could have more/better records and then get better Profession and Class choices. So the answer is yes, you can wait, and sometimes you should wait, based on an outcome you are looking for, to gain that little edge in records for better evolutions.

The Uub

None of his stats actually increase they just increased how much those certain stats affect his resource pools and perception doesn’t have a corresponding resource pool to buff

Tyler Krogh

I think most Gods are arcane. The “Malefic” affinity is Villy’s arcane stuff. Same for Holy and Undead. It’s more like Jake’s will get a new name like “Primal” affinity.

SinCinnamon

It’s grand like grandchild

SinCinnamon

Yes, thank you for the chappy Zogarth!

JJB4345_80_815

Who did FS look up and talk to I wonder? Does he communicate with the system itself? I feel we won't find that out for some time :/

Chewbacchus

A huge buf but por jake missed out on the only thing he desires..... weres the perception increase

Red45jimster

TFTC!!!!

Jose Reyna

TFTC

Sailesh Kumar Kumar

Tftc!

James Faulkner

Probably not, since this just means Jake has to get even more Records to advance in tier, allowing the Viper to benefit for a longer time

Tsorov

That would mean that every Minaga has his own unique soul, and that shouldn't be possible. Every being has one soul, and Minaga shouldn't be any different, even if his divine realm is probably special since he has so many Records and steadily improving his foundation by having low level minagas out that should be able to aquire new records

Tsorov

So glad we still get Fridays chapter before it's weekend 😊, though I'm sure tomorrow's chapter will leave us hanging on a huge cliff till Monday 😅 now, back to chapter 897 where I left off in my reread before reading today's chapter 😁🥰

Sarianne Roodenburg

"You want some? I'll give it ya!"

Matthew Lemon

Sure, but it's only 25% faster at most. Not exactly game changing. He'll probably need to do something crazy to improve it again, like turning his soul into a hunting reserve or something. Maybe he can turn it into an afterlife for the game he hunts. Instead of getting records for prayer, like the Holy Mother, he'll get records for the souls of beasts he's already killed hunting each other. Would be super interesting, IMO

austin kutz

I think that mythical will remain the max for a while, when he hits B his skills will drop in rarity again

Seamus Harley

Lol he is going to forget

Ty Cooper

It his one secret

Ty Cooper

Right

Ty Cooper

So stronger soul equals more room for boosting skills or less backlash, higher capacity for primal origin energy (aka Jake juice) able to utilize said energy more efficiently, faster Accumulation? So many possibilities!

Boomer

"Vilas greets the Grand Disciple."

NovaZero

Or Origin of the primal hunter divine realm

Boomer

I keep seeing posts "This comment has been removed." by an account that does not appear to exist(Redacted), and Zog is responding and fixing his own "records". Has the FS transcended our reality and Zog is his first Disciple?? Inquiring minds want to know!

John Durrett

Something I was wondering about was if all god Minagas have their own divine realms and if so is it like a nine circles have hell thing?

Imagine FS records existing in Jakes Soul now like Curse and Shadow. Then Jake invites Villy into his soulspace for him to have a chat with his old master. That would be a divine offering of highest order for Villy I bet.

John Durrett

Oooh! Cool theory! I kinda hope you’re right! That would explain why he’s considered forbidden knowledge

ABTelford

Cept he asked Villy to end his life. I don't recall seeing the actual reason why he asked this of Villy to begin with. What if his choice to end his life was a doorway into moving his consciousness into the records itself. Being alive but not physically embodied. Even though his existence was retracted, those that know of or discover him serve to enhance and increase his records. As he currently is, he is indestructible so long as anyone remembers him. That last thought gave me Yip of Yor ripple moment, but in a good way.

John Durrett

Thanks!

Trevor Mergen

Holy shit that has some validity… Eternal Shadow will upgrade with him, there is something (one) in the mask, the drop of blood, and record fragment of the FS… each capable of reaching the Divine realms… but what if Jake just absorbs off of them…. What level of experience gain will he get ( I know it ridiculous but it’s fun to speculate)

Miguel Sanchez

Oh my goody goody goodness, this chapter is freaking AWESOME!!! I am so psyched to see Villys reaction to all this!!Thank you Zogarth!

ABTelford

Lets face it, Humans are naturally Heretical. The system just finally admitted it. :P

John Durrett

It is a race skill just not a human race skill. Think of it like high elves, dark elves, and elves. Yes they all share race skills of elves but only dark elves have those race skills and so do high elves.

William WIlson

Jake be building his own Pantheon inside his SoulSpace. lol

John Durrett

WAIT!! Now that I think about it… it has been referenced more than once Jake’s characteristics being a keen a monster but with the paradox of human… what if (and this is ridiculous but fuck it) Jake will become the first human “monster”? Getting the best from both and. Not having the weaknesses of either?

Miguel Sanchez

Makes it to s-grade with n/a would be hilarious. Villy just laughing and cursing him at the same time.

Ty Cooper

It certainly opens the door for Jake to work on it himself. There is much he still doesn't understand even with his new unlocks and upgrades.

John Durrett

That is why i am asking if it is impossible to gather more records if you are let's say in class, job and race at 350. If not you should be able to fix your record density. I think there is a limit for the max records you can gain per level and that is why needing more per level is a hidden boon, because it forces you to be closer to the max. The max might be different from person to person.

Sargon Yami

I know this may be a bit picky of words, but I don't see Jake having any control over his bloodline. More like the bloodline is a Divine or higher then Godhood existence that is exerting itself in the present stage of Evolution. What can be predicted is that the fight would be Utterly Savage and Relentless much like William experienced.

John Durrett

Eh only got a unique skill because it was a skill made using his Bloodline on himself.

William WIlson

The way i understand it is Evolution is like a pond. Experience is what determines the size of the pond and records the water. Basically what villy and Nevermore warn about is to not let your pond size get to large that you are unable to fill it with water. The pond can always get deeper but if it gets to shallow the pond dries up.

William WIlson

You do know arcane is just a place holder name for all arcane affinitiies. Villies malefic affinity was also arcane before. Most likely jakes affinity will change to primal affinity at some point i think

Sammot

I think the difference will be Jake’s Bloodline would immediately jump his soul to Divine (temporarily) to handle said effects. The FS is benevolent and doing harm do deal with an inconvenience is not within the scope of the character (as written).

Miguel Sanchez

I believe it pertains the the records they have collected. Not enough records and the current base or layer is not complete or dense enough. Sure you might be able to force an evolution as soon as its available but the results over time is a house of cards that cant bear any further weight, so they become stuck.

John Durrett

Could be some sort of eternal destruction mana. The closest thing to them being the marbel he created in nevermore

Sargon Yami

One thing I'm wondering about is the opposition elements theme. When ell'hakan used eclipse, it was combining both the concepts of the moon and the sun. Here with Jake's heretic chosen, stability and destruction concepts, they aren't being mixed like eclipse, but are in balance. I wonder if Jake will create a stable form of mixing opposition elements. Instead of a big attack or big burst, a stable output of power as a result of mixing opposition elements.

BumAssBumAss

“From an immediate assessment, the biggest upgrade was definitely that his resource pools for Stamina and Health Points had just expanded by 25%, matching the existing bonus increase it had already given to his mana.” Nope, just resource pools..

Cody

Curious if this will interfere with Villys advancements through Jake’s growth…

Abbots Foley

The benevolent Zog actually gave us the skill discrimination today! Rejoice!

Thank u for the story

Unique is not above mythical. Unique is it's own category as unique, that it's so different it cannot be graded. It can be worst or better than myth. It can also be equal to a common rarity skill.

BumAssBumAss

The drop of blood is from villy, I don't expect it to be fully incorporated until s-grade or divinity. The curse energy can keep growing, it is said to consume entire solar system if unleashed. Maybe B-grade or A-grade?

BumAssBumAss

I don't think it will happen but it would be super funny if Jake won't get a evolution quest again and breaking all system standards

NoctisMi

Impossible force meets impossible object

brjenness

Next chap villy senses change in Jake and pops in to souls pace just in time for a wazzup and a quick beer

brjenness

Primeval origin divine realm

brjenness

100 million years in the future...Thaynians...respected by all. Feared by most. Understood by none. Saviors of the impossible. Destroyer of schemes. Hunters of the unkillable. Primal incarnate.

brjenness

Also, two questions going forward: How long until Jake simply incorporates the drop of blood and the curse energy into the soul space (divine realm) completely? I vaguely expected it to happen here. When he returns to Earth and/or The Order, will he need to take special steps to reign in his aura even more than in the past? Will all of earth feel the change even without him present?

Arieh Sochaczevski

Almost positive it's celestial then divine

JB

The malicious heretic chosen of the primal hunter...endless feedback loop...Jake and villy to the moon

brjenness

I was referening to both the viper statements (the path is a Marathon not a race) as well as nevermores that beings that rush to much CAN NEVER evolve further. That one monster that reeached level 350 but will never reach B

Sargon Yami

“Congratulations you have killed the first thing since the system appeared here’s an admin key have fun don’t fuck shit up too bad.”

Austin Barton

People just tend to rush into evolution when they do. It looks like the warning from the system that delay could impact progression might play a factor. But you are able to put off all evolutions (race, class, profession) at least for a time to make sure all evolve at the same time (perfect). With that info I would assume you can continue to absorb or make new records but if you take in something that deviates from your path it would negatively affect that evolution.

J W

I'm guessing divine then primal.

brjenness

Thanks for the chapter! “When he really thought about it, did he really want that?” - drop one of the ‘really’s. “[…] more unique […]” as I’m sure you’ve gotten plenty of times before, this is a bugbear for many of us pedants. On the other hand, “[…] more distinctly unique […]” is both grammatically better, and better fits the idea being expressed.

Arieh Sochaczevski

Thank you for another fun chapter.

Loststar7

I'm hoping Jake will do a Divine Bargain to share all of this with Villy. Because if something is worth much in Villy's eyes, then this qualifies. The system might even help Villy experience these Records himself if the skill is used.

Endern

Do we think Jake drop a bomb on the FS about his evolution quests??

Justin Moen

I think all of Jake's skills and evolutions will be hard or nearly impossible to attain. Maybe only his descendents will be able to come close to him. I mean the dude is literally making a path where he needs to one shot a God before becoming one himself

Noctis Uchiha

Fuck that’s a good theory! An arcane god! I love that! Also think about what the FS just ended with: whatever he was doing mentally while looking up into Jake’s cloud of mana triggered a faint Bloodline response. And from that, he doesn’t think he would be able to easily kill Jake(or maybe it’s better to say without consequences. It could still be easy for him to kill Jake), even this Cgrade version of Jake even tho they’re in his soul space. God I fucking hate these cliff hangers!

Justin Moen

I think the FS is probably the only one who could properly kill Jake but it would definitely destroy the FS cause ain’t no way the Primal Hunter goes quietly

kinglemur

There might be a chance of it after Jake reaches godhood, and he leaves a mark on the records of humanity as a whole like Villy did with snakes

kinglemur

Snap as I was reading I was like what’s Villie going to say 😮😲

Rewdan

Probably his bloodline descendants could get some version? At the very least they would need his same arcane affinity right?

Sébastien Kingsbury

I'll be honest I was expecting Jake to throw in his primeval origin energy, but since he still has room to improve, I can see why it wasn't immediate

Leviathan

My first question is if this frees up a skill slot on his profession to take something else, not that there’s anything overpowering waiting in the wings.

Michael Telford

Thanks Zogarth I appreciate your work 👏

Rewdan

Nah he just swiped it from the system when it first arrived 😂😂 your comment is amazing

kinglemur

It hast been state often that people that reach the end of a class to fast are unable to evolve. Zogarth is it impossible to further absorb records if you reach the end of one class until you evolve?

Sargon Yami

I’m looking forward to Jake getting back and speaking to Villy after all this FS shenanigans.

Admiral Dakbar

I think it's less the skill, and more so the method of gaining this skill is a race skill, maybe specifically for humans alone.

Shup Idot

Thanks for the chapter

BlackRazaras

Nah that kid in the colloseum had his fathers arcane affinity so Jake can pass his on to his kids as well which would include the boosts to statsand their souls. Hell the Blightfather created a race so did Sanguine why cant Jake? ALL HAIL THE THAYNIANS!

Stuart McCabe

I think it'll become a unique skill after mythical. Didn't we see that with EH?

Aaditya Ravindran

Surely they would have to follow Jakes path as their own, first requiring a Grimoire of the Primal Hunter and of the Heretic chosen

Shaibene

Hold your breath it gets better 🎼

“Hey first sage, before you pop off, could you tell me why your boots have karmic ties to all twelve primordials? Thanks!” -Jake Thayne Pls

Stuart McCabe

A new fantastic point of view 🎵

Aaditya Ravindran

I wanna know when jake will face his bloodline. The sage looks up and squints and 1 heart beat later "not a good ending????????" Zog give me more chapters i need to know

Christopher Torres

That the sage notes he would not have a good ending I am assuming it would be because Jake would fully activate the Bloodline like he did with Valdimar. Wonder how that would turn out.

A. B. Edwards

25% deeper reserves, not 25% stronger

Fixed stuff

Zogarth

Also haha. Villy didn’t have Jakes senses at c grade. He couldn’t tell that he was not able to truly end the FS.

Hayden Leech

I wonder if this will repair palate, altering his soul and all

Titaniumtac

Ravert

He is the game master of the system

Dallin S

I think it will be divine. I’m not entirely sure though.

Lizy Flore

Someone gave the first sage a command block 💀

Greyson Wallace

Probably that jakes bloodline is OP and he would have trouble with it, the heart beat is the bloodline reacting…

Bruce Sheplan

Well, do you truly believe Jake’s bloodline would have allowed the FS to do whatever he wanted in its territory ? I think not.

Lizy Flore

Do we know the term for what comes after Mythical yet? Whatever it is, I'm very much looking forward to him getting one

Stuart McCabe

‏maybe all Jake humans will

fruit dragon

The thought of a fragment of the FS to be part of Jake’s Soulspace with 2 other monstrous Records… to me this sets the stage for Jake to become a Primal Hunter of Gods as “soon”(within the multi versal Scale of time) be a bring to match a primordial. An ARCANE GOD.

Miguel Sanchez

I wonder if his skill became a race skill will other humans be able to get it or is still exclusive to him still?

Short

Keeping with yesterdays comment… if the First sages bloodline makes it so his mind lives on conscious and aware even after his death, makes it so he is capable of using skill even transcendent ones while dead… Can’t this motherfucker resurrect himself whenever tf he wants with that “Return” Transcendent skill? Guy basically has admin commands lol.

Thanks for the chapter 🙂

Any chance that this or a later race evolution/improvment will end up seeing an increase in stats per level in his race? He should eventually get more stats than an ordinary human should he not?

I don't think his bloodline would allow the first sage to actually kill him and I think the first sage knows that as well.

Tygtc Zog, absolutely amazing Chapter!

Staudi

I like how zogarth addressed the whole soul of the primal Hunter we was talking about in chat and I agree it is too early. Maybe in A grade? I don't think b grade is the time either
