The First F:NM Answer

Back when I first began doing F:NM, the answers were drawn traditionally. I managed to make a lot of entries that way and it was nice to do, as at that time I was in a significant art rut of sorts and doing things traditionally instead of digitally all the time was a nice break. The notebook(s) I drew the answers in were actually rather small, and most of the images shown in the blog were either drawn at that size or are slightly larger than the actual physical art. Nowadays I've reverted back to doing digital art because it's cleaner and I can fake the traditional look with it, but it's nice to look back at the past. This is the first scan for the first answer in F:NM.

I used Faber Castell artist pens (in black, obviously) and prismacolor art markers in cool grey 30 and 50 percent. Sometimes used the clear blender prismacolor marker for some effects, but it wasn't often. I mainly just used prismacolors because that's what I've been most familiar with in my life, but they're a bit pricey (which is why I only used those two- it's all I 'needed'). There's probably cheaper options to get the same look, but I wasn't up for experimenting at the time. The Faber Castell pens are really nice because they offer different line weights- I really love the 'super fine' pen for it's ability to work in tiny details. Unfortunately I ended up running a few pens dry over the run and had to buy another set, and I ended up getting the 'manga' pen set instead because honestly it's the same thing only with stupider packaging.
