Thank you!! I think I'll pick up after the events of the show. I've watched side-by-sides of the big moments now so I got the gist of the changes and the flow! (In saying that, can't imagine playing dnd in front of a MASSIVE live studio audience like they do when Percy gives Vex the title!!!)

I'm glad you had fun watching!! Truly, I've enjoyed this show and the community so much!! And yeah, I knew Gnomes lived a decent lifespan but couldn't remember (even though I am a gnome in my most recent campaign lmao).

OH and as for where to start if you want to watch the campaign, If you start with episode 56 you'll be picking up immediately after they kill Umbrasyl. If you decide you want to watch the live play version of the events of the show but you don't want to watch Orion, you can start when they get to Whitestone in episode 29, because he never returns to the show after that point.

Loved watching this again along with you! Thanks for this! If you're confused about Kaylee's age, it's because Gnomes live a very long time, as evidenced by the fact that Pike's Great Great Grandfather is still a very lively man. As someone mentioned, Scanlan is 69 years old, so I'm not sure we know how old Kaylee is but she could easily be anywhere from 20 to 50 years old at this point, depending on how long ago that particular dalliance of Scanlan's was. :')

if you haven't already - you should listen to the full version of the Make the Bald Man Cry song in the credits of episode 10. Also, you heard Pike and Scanlan sing the duet during episode 7 - but you should listen to Vex singing for the end credits of episode 7.

To expand on this, the Gods decided after The Calamity to go into self-imposed exile behind the Divine Gate, the seal that was mentioned. It prevents them from physically returning to Exandria, but they can still send slivers of their power to mortals and their minions (angels, demons, etc) can still be brought forth from the Planes. When Vax and Pike met with their patron gods, the Gods didn't come to them; the temples act as a very powerful conduit that allowed Vax and Pike to go through the Divine Gate and speak to the gods directly. Presumably, this also explains why the Matron didn't speak to Vax until then; the visions of her were only shadows of her true self that could pass beyond the gate.

Something to keep in mind is that the God's are sealed away and have no direct way of communicating, unless you're in a temple seemingly. Remember Pike had to go to a temple to talk to the Everlight properly in season 1, so it makes sense that to communicate directly with the Matron, at least at first, Vax needed to go to her temple. Outside of their temples the gods can only communicate in visions.

The severed head in Umbrasyl's lair was the head of the sphinx from episode 6. The Mighty Nein animated series is also on the way, which is going to be so awesome. Personally, while I love the Vox Machina streams, they really nail their format with the second campaign. I think if you really want to get into it, start with Episode 1 of Campaign 2. They are making audience-facing decisions with their format at that point, so it is much easier to watch. The missing player left for good right before the Briarwood arc really got underway, so you aren't really missing anything about that.
