To the Honorable Supreme Crit Justices Murphy, Axford, and Tanner and the esteemed Baliff Hurwitz, May it please the court.. I'm in a homebrew campaign with a group of friends and the DM recently made a decision that still has me struggling. Our chaotic party was exploring and explicitly ignored the DM's instructions not to use magic (forgive us Dice Christ for we have sinned). We managed to save ourselves, but the DM introduced a time loop, sending us back to the beginning (with most of the knowledge, levels, and items we had before). On our second reset, the DM had us make wisdom saving throws and three of us failed. Those of us who failed got a message from the DM asking/telling us to change something about our character (Subclass, class, race, backstory). While I think it is a stellar twist, I do object to being forced to change something about a character that I developed a backstory and plan for after 20 sessions. I await your judgement
2022-04-30 01:14:57 +0000 UTCConfession: I lay myself down in front of the Gods and confess that I, as a DM, fudged a roll. A level one wizard in the party failed a dex save and fell 20 feet. I rolled max damage, and since they were teetering on one hit point, it would have killed their character permanently. It was this 12yo's first time playing DND, and I didn't feel as though it was right. So I docked 1 from damage, knocking them out, but not killing them. They got a Nat 20 on the first Death Save and were immediately filled with joy. I accept whatever penance I must endure.
