I’ve been enjoying Laura Clergy’s book. She is very honest and funny. Technically the Alcoholics Anonymous, known as the Big Book in AA is the memoir of founder Bill W. The “12 steps” came from those first people who came together. It’s a very dated book, in that the first edition came out in the late 1930s. So from a historical perspective (I have a degree in history) it’s a great snapshot of his generation. Good luck. Even if you aren’t an alcoholic, these books tend to be interesting “there but by the grace of God go thee” stories. If you are feeling you might have a problem they are good baselines to measure yourself up against.

Y’all I’m so excited about Corbo! And even though his shtick of being a wannabe-deep-guy is real fun, I’m making a connection to something actually deep as heck called a “koan” in Zen Buddhism. According to Oxford dictionary a koan is “a paradoxical anecdote or riddle, used in Zen Buddhism to demonstrate the inadequacy of logical reasoning and to provoke enlightenment.” And Britannica says a “characteristic example of the style is the well-known koan ‘When both hands are clapped a sound is produced; listen to the sound of one hand clapping.’” So, it seems, there’s something useful about being deliberately confusing! All that said, I’m only an outsider white guy reading a book about Zen so there’s a high likelihood that I’m off track in making any comparison to a religion I barely understand.

Yennefer would make sense, Murph did say he based this world off of the Witcher. Plus the Hexblood’s are basically an Eldermourne version of Witchers. It’s rad.

Mad respect for Lou letting his character be duped even when he as the player knows better. It's such a hard position to be in but he played loyal Jabari very well.

Addressing yourself in third-person like Jabari does is also that is common in japanese high school girls. I have very limited experience with the rest of japanese society but i did go to a japanese girls school for a year and a bunch of my friends said their own name instead of I. Since you also address other people with their name rather than using "you" I don't think it's that odd in japanese to use the third person.

On the cooking conversation: my dad taught himself to cook by just watching a lot of Jaques Pépin (sp?) shows where he talks about cooking processes and techniques instead of following recipes to a T and he both loves cooking and is very good at it :)

Also I read Tools of Titans my Tim Ferris, which for people who aren't familiar it's a massive collection of interviews he does with people, but they are supposed to be various prestigious people (Schwarzenegger is one of them for example). I enjoyed parts of it but most of what I got out of it is that rich people are fucking nuts and do weird shit that think make them successful.
