Comments

Me too. Murphy definitely said sex room.

Ryan Higgins

It's my first time listening and I'm 100% sure we all did

Travis Kyznar

Such a good epi, I relisten on the reg

MegTh

A crit causing negative effects= Hank Hogfish's Jacket.

Martlet Sable

Spoilers for campaign one. Bye Murphs own logic akarot did not kill Genma.

Brahigus

I also heard sex room HAHA

James Muscat

I’m just listening to this for the first time, and it’s good to see Brennan adopted Lou’s leveling system for Worlds Beyond Number

JB

Technically coral is a colony of organisms.

Gravesnear

Chris Perkins, works for wotc, ran a game with Penny Arcade for a long time. Chris allowed inspiration to be held or passed to other players by players not by characters so i would have sided with the player.

Regarding the killer familiar, I think Murph's examples don't fit the situation. The Warlock controls his familiar and directs it using a bonus action on his turn. So the question isn't "if the familiar goes rogue and kills someone would you punish the warlock or the familiar?", the right question would be "if the warlock orders his familiar to kill someone, would you punish the warlock or the familiar?" The whole point of this case is that the familiar isn't acting independently. It is a summoned spirit which is magically bound to its master and acts based on its master's will. It isn't "going rogue" when it kills for the warlock in battle. It is serving as a weapon under the warlock's direct control. I would rule differently if it was an allied animal, under the direction of a druid or something, but familiars are an extension of the caster. They do not have the freedom to act independently. I would not consider them to be responsible for a murder. They are a weapon. The warlock is the killer.

Katherine Fortner

this is like a yanny-laurel situation. first time listening to this ep I heard "next room," relistening to it now and I heard "sex room" and I didn't even remember the moment was coming so it wasn't because I expected it

Nicole V.

Definitely sex room

Alex Gibson

Definitely heard sex room

Samuel hunt

I heard sex room, or at least "ex room" so my brain filled in the rest

Bulbarat

I heard k'nex room

Nick Wesell

I also heard 'sex room'!

Nikolaus Cox

Summon familiar is a spell. Meaning that you killed the enemy with a spell ergo ypu killed him

Rigs216

For one rare time, I disagree with Murph RE: the familiar not counting as a kill for the Warlock. I was on his side, until his reasoning could be used against him. "When the familiar dies, does the Warlock die? No!"... If the Warlock used a weapon to kill the barbarian, it would count as a kill for the Warlock, but the Warlock doesn't die if the weapon is destroyed. Also, using the bonus action to make his Find Familiar spell do damage isn't much different than using a bonus action to make the Heat Metal spell do damage. It's part of the spell... and the spell that the Warlock cast is what did the killing.

Michael Marchand

I am so late to the game, just wanted it to be said I squeeled a little bit when Lou began talking. I love that man and his sultry voice.

That Boy Lenin

He absolutely said sex room 🀣

With all do respect justice Murphy if you use a sword to kill someone you would go to jail and not the sword

Debra Wasson

I relate to TikTok's DM, as one of my players is a tiefling wizard named HΓΌt Cheeto

Claire M

I listened to this today. For the first time since finding NADDPOD in October 2019, I have nothing to catch up on. Loved the court session. Agree with all the rulings and am very interested to see where arc two.

Anthony Felton

I am listening to this for the 2nd time, and I can say with absolute certainty that Murph said "sex room."

Donny

Or Ally as a guest for an arc. Can you imagine the pure chaos of Emily, Caldwell, and Ally in one game?! Poor DaddyMurphy would have a stroke. Lol

GayIndoorTyler

I'd love to see Ally Beardsley on a D&D court.

PiesNearbies

Brennan needs to be in the next court episode.

Jaxon Letendre

Just wanted to say you guys are great. Lou is fantastic also and the dynamic still feels just as NADDPOD as ever (all the best to Caldy and his family though)

Luke Hawkins

I absolutely adore D&D court. Hearing about other games is hilariously wonderful.

michellemittens

....unless

Julie V Eckert

Voice from the lower court: if people polymorph you too much, pick or homebrew monsters with the immutable form trait!

Noah James Perito

Maybe I am the only one that feels this way, but I would really enjoy to hear Brennan Lee Mulligan on an episode of D&D Court. I feel like he would love to take a peek into these different campaigns and even way in with his own opinion and experiences

Jacob Stockton

I propose entering the "Case of the Apes and the Hole" to the Supreme Crit Justices, May it Please the Court. I am the DM of a couple of campaigns taking place in a world called Ardicil. Recently, to ring in the New Year, and mainly to vent my frustration at certain players, we played Tomb of Horrors. They went through multiple traps and many rooms with ease but eventually came to a room with three Chests. After opening a few chests and doing the required tasks/combat, they opened the chest that summons a Giant Skeleton. After a round of combat, our Firbolg Druid chose to Conjure Animals, and summoned four CR 1/2 Apes to the room which swiftly stole the bones of the Giant Skeleton and beat the hell out of it. Upon realizing the room was complete, the Druid and Party attempted to leave, the caveat, the only exit was a small crawlspace which I estimated to be a 3 foot diameter, but on further review found to be a 3 foot by 3 foot square exit. I posited that the Apes would be too wide at the shoulders to fit through the hole, which was subsequently met with immediate backlash from >all< of my players, stating that there was no way that an Ape WOULDN'T be able to fit through that hole. I proposed that after working at a Zoo for a while and specifically working near Western Lowland Gorillas, I KNEW that they wouldn't fit. My players then proceeded to bring up the point that our Druid is a Firbolg, and is thus 8 feet tall, and wouldn't be able to fit in the crawlspace by my logic. I suggested that a humanoid build is different from a Great Ape build and that Firbolgs, being humanoid, could crawl on their arms and legs to fit through. That did not help my case as now I would have to backtrack and either remove the Druid from the room or leave him stranded in there... After a lengthy argument, my biology major mind took over, and said "Screw it" and chose to do the rapid research instead and had them roll on a custom table, to figure out what type of "Great Ape" they conjured, even though the spell allows me, the DM to pick any CR 1/2 beast. (For those curious, they rolled and got a Bonobo, a relative of a Chimpanzee). The Bonobos fit through the hole, but I question "Did I get wronged by the players getting to roll for a Bonobo?" or am I just a salty DM who had the belief that the creature named "Ape" references a Gorilla. And on the topic of the Firbolg, could a Firbolg technically fit through a 3 foot hole? Or am I being unreasonable there as well. In the end, we came to an agreement, one that was Biologically true to what an "Ape" is, and the game kept moving, but this is just to prove a point to my bastard players (I'm talking to you Ismat, Jinn and all the others who listen). In essence, my players hate me lovingly and I hate them just as lovingly, sometimes without the love, and all is right in the world of Dungeons and Dragons. ~ Sincerely, Alex / Perigast.

Alex Volkov

Absolutely said sex room! That was an unfortunate pronunciation of "this next room"

Logenthar

Received my lawyer Paw Paw in the mail today and my dog immediately hired him to sue me. Tough luck. :/

Freen

I also heard sex room. And rewound to double check πŸ˜‚

Stephen Jay

Naddpod almost got me trapped under heavy weight. I was on my final set of a bench press and then "sex room" happened and I laughed just enough to lose my strength and get stuck 🀣

Thomas

I heard Sex Room

Sarah

There should be a link for an RSS feed that you can enter into apple podcasts. I think instructions came in an email with my initial Patreon subscription.

Marley McDonough

Was just think about this. Polymorph doesn’t make water so us it just dry coral that will quickly die. I read coral can survive for hours taken out of water, but i think pure dry coral is done for in a few rounds

Rob T

Can I listen to these on Apple podcast or just in here

Nick Carr

I'm team sex room, I am glad Lou asked because I initially thought "WTF Murph?!?!"

Sammo Cando

1000% said sex room. Literally went back and listened

Jake of all Trades

Amazing episode guys! Lou you are a spectacular addition to the courts! Wishing Caldwell and Suz all the best during this crazy exciting time for their family!

Daniel Green

100% sex room lol

Paul Williams

also on pg 125 of the PHB: "Additionality, if you have inspiration, you can reward another player for good roleplaying, clever thinking, or simply doing something exciting in the game. When another player character does something that really contributes to the story in a fun and interesting way, you can give up your inspiration to give that character inspiration."

spiflication

Yup, heard sex room before anyone mentioned it and definitely did a double-take. Looking forward to more D&D Court

David Greenwood

wait no

SHOUT OUT TO SEX ROOMS

spiflication

Where do I find more of these

Spam gaming the not so skilled gamer (thanks jake)

Also heard sex room.

Lady Haeli

I legit had a moment of thinking β€œare they just going to let sex room go?” before Lou stepped in.

Phil van Houten

THIS NEXT ROOM. Murph didn't enunciate the N in next.

David Pugh

I absolutely heard sex room

They posted about it here on patreon, and that thread has around 250 comments. Just scroll down the feed a little bit

Nathan T Wilson

Lou was right I also heard Murph say sex room

Michael West

100% said sex room. Lou womped Murph

Joe Somerville

I read the comments before listening to this episode... just reading about sex room killed me.

Julia Austin

Good evening and may it please the court: There was no sentencing for the final case. Crit Justice Murph usually delivers the sentencing, but was the dissenting Crit Justice in this case, so I object and submit an appeal on behalf of the sanctity of the Supreme Crit for Justices Axford and Wilson to deliver their sentencing here.

Cyborg Version of Josh the Kobold

Hearing Sex Room from Murph was jarring and hilarious

Rob T

Got em with the sex room

Cj Ferrigno

Murph's got plans in the sex room

Joey Swanson

I definitely heard "sex room" but my brain course corrected to "next room" because I just KNEW murph couldn't mean it

Matthew Strasiotto

I play in a large group and our rule is if you have to step away during a fight you get slotted in the next turn once you’re back. We have a pretty strict time slot for our games so it helps keep battles moving without screwing people out of their turn for being humans.

Melanie

My house provides a divided opinion, I too heard sex room while my wife heard next room! It is confirmed from my view that Murph is planning some weird scenes for the special!

Mr. Satan, the World Martial Arts Champion and the Earth's protector

oh man, lous gonna get his first wall of text for the sex room comment

We can all agree Murph said sex room

Frankenjam

Am I the only one that thought of Tik Tok from Return to Oz rather than the app? I'm pretty much the same age as the cast so it would be in their movie watching prime.

Frankenjam

Murph said this next room but now it sounds like sex room. It's like those Disney clips.

tyalaman

Er, to clarify, to rule out someone extending theirs to someone else when their character is unconscious. Based on a VERY stringent reading you could argue that it would require the player receiving the inspo doing something to warrant it, but imo that is an unreasonably harsh take.

Max Cooper

I would like to concur with two sentiments from my fellow commenters: firstly, I think the DM in the Inspiration case is wrong and Inspiration is a tool for encouraging good role-playing and fun games and not a character action, and it is not supported to rule out someone extending theirs to another player. And I also heard Justice Murph say sex room.

Max Cooper

Objection! Inspiration does not require an action on the part of the character but instead is a player driven act that acts on a meta level. A character being unconscious does not impede the ability for the character's player to "reward" another player with advantage on a roll per the use of inspiration.

Adam Haikal

The language of water walk says that you ascent underwater at a rate of 60ft per round. This doesn't make water a solid object, just that it push you back, you can hold yourself underwater the same you could hold yourself up on a ledge.

Dr.Bees

I heard sex room lol πŸ˜‚

Anton

Yeah Murph 100% said sex room.

Caleb Gardner

What server are you guys playing wow on???

Eagledink

Justice Murph definitely said sex room, but what's worse is he lied about it. I say he be disbarred for his transgressions.

Arlo Linn

I heard "this next room" but now when I relisten all I hear is "sex room." makes you think.

Semi-Sweet JP

For the inspiration case brought before the court in this episode I would posit β€œisn’t the inspiration point belonging to the player not the character?” - meaning I would argue the player should be able to give away the inspiration point even when their character is unconscious.

Dj Michaelopolis

Crit justice Murph absolutely said sex room lol

Peydon Bush

Ya I was going to post this! The surface thoughts might actually be, β€œI’m hungry...”. You have to decide to push deeper and then have them fail a save to get the actual good stuff. I actually agree with the DM unless they did the whole saving throw thing and still didn’t give up the info. I don’t think the plaintiff went into that much detail thoughz. Edit: I missed the part where they said that they were explicitly asking them about the cult when they cast the spell. I then totally agree that the cult would be at the forefront of the cultists mind at that point.

Brandon Wiens

Yes.

Brandon Wiens

Also, what Murph said about Detect Thoughts is basically how the spell is written. It's an initial save against surface thoughts, and if you want to pry deeper the creature has to make a save against getting deeper thoughts, and knows you cast it. So there are tools to divert how much info they get from Detect Thoughts if they pass their saves.

Emily C

Truly appalled at the pee break issue....it's so easy to just wait a few minutes for someone to finish, or just let everyone take a peek/water break when the person's turn comes around.

Tyler

Sabrina Bernaby

I just got a Paw-Paw plushie from the boobs... I will cradle him as we listen to this ridiculousness.

Octolich

Justice Murph most definitely said sex room.

Emily C

I am a research librarian who worked for the district attorney for a couple years. I will absolutely be your law clerk.

Austin Johnson

I’ve listened to if 5 times over and murph said sex room no question

Turner Tush

The spell says that you can walk on water, not that you're entirely water repelant. Like, you can walk on the Dead Sea, but you can also grabbed some water and put your hand in it.

Garga Lenoir

Yeah it felt like /r/rpghorrorstories at some points (where, coincidentally, you can expect stories of people getting dragged to sex rooms)

Garga Lenoir

If a coral needs water to survive, wouldn't it take damage and change back into the character? I feel like a coral would have 0.25 hp, they are super tiny and weak, the stone is just a byproduct they secret.

Kerry Kwiatkowski

I was not expecting any postings today & two??? Both w Lou??? Thank you guys so much, this made my day!!!

tacticalgrandma

Murph : I have a lot of cool stuff planned in the sex room! Everyone listening the podcast : O_O

Garga Lenoir

Lou?! It's a dream come true.

Caitlyn Dill

Definitely said sex room. Thought were we back in THAT layer of hell

Emily Bell

Quite definitely

Michael Singer

Murph hella said sex room lmao

Michael Singer

Maybe he said "this next room" That would at least sound closer. But I definitely heard "sex room" Soooosexcited for this next arc with Lou!!!

Brendan Watroba

Definitely said sex room

Andrew Silverman

Legolas v. Snow also sounds like the subtitle of a documentary comparing J.R.R Tolkien to George R.R. Martin.

Rylie R

Yep...sex room it was...or as I call it...the fungeon

Rylie R

I hope y’all have Ally as your next guest so you can complet the D20 appearances

Debra Wasson

The first DM is still hearing "Shooting Stars" as he fumbles to infinity on his nat 20 dex save.

D'ran Dana

also am i the Only Person in this comment section who actually heard next room

Jude Seimon

small logical issue with the legolas defence: Legolas uses his own innate ability to walk On the snow. However, in the case of this player, they have a magical spell cast on them that causes their body to be pushed out of water. This spell is a set, concrete effect, the player cannot adjust it to suit their needs in the moment, as Legolas can his agility. With this in mind, i dont believe the DM is as completely in the wrong as he is made out to be. I do however, believe he is a bit of a hardass, and probably kind of un-fun

Jude Seimon

Bahahah I was wondering why nobody commented on it being a sex room

Taleisha G

i also heard sex room

H-Train

I rolled it back a few times, he SO said sex room.

Crescent Minor

The cases offered this week had a higher asshole concentration than usual; there's not much of a question who's right in the case of a penalized bathroom break. Happily, this group can still riff on a case where it's fairly evident who's right. I'm coming to look forward to the next D&D Court as much as the episodes!

Crescent Minor

I love D&D Court so much

Serenity4Jane

Does this mean Lou is in the next arc?!?!?!?

Emily

Murph. What sort of items do you keep in your sex room? Do you shop at Adam and eve or home depot

preston packer

I heard sex room also...and I sentence judge Murph to a sex room in a volcano...lol great court session guys

Jason Matthews

He definitely said sex room

Pugachu 123

I stand with Justice Lou re: walnuts. They would instakill my husband and I've completely lost my taste for them. It's a bad nut.
