On the topic of min-maxing I think it’s all about what is fun to you and maximizing fun is what makes the game flow best. I play an air- genasi way of the shadow monk with two levels of the new genie warlock subclass. It’s weird and not ideal - genasi is not the best race for monk - if multiclassing to warlock you should take a fiend patron I guess - but when Shurik meets his real dad in a rum bottle and learns that his step dad art is really not so bad that is some fun role play. Not to mention it helps him find the discipline inside himself to really train in the way of illusion with his real dad guiding the way as he tries to build a relationship with this side of himself he never knew which makes him a better party member and a more competent commander which is what you want from a monk anyway right?

Yay, Lou!! Also, what about the Kindred instead of the Blood Bound? Kind of incorporates the common background/shared ties aspects while implicitly referencing the idea of actual blood bonds/ ties.
