2025-03-02 19:51:44 +0000 UTCI have been wanting to build elemental benders ever since playing an elemental monk and being unable to use "shape the flowing water" like Katara. The druid lists in Xanathar's give you absolutely everything for each element. Now all I have to do is put it together to see if/how much home-brewing would be required and if I could talk my DM into letting me use it... I'm thinking a easy mod would be circle of land > circle of elements. Basically all it would really need would be custom circle spells, right?... Anyway. Sorry. Got lost in the mind palace.

2019-07-09 12:23:04 +0000 UTCWhen people attribute fate, god, or other purposeful reasons for things that happen, I remember an ep of Radiolab that basically says, as humans, we tend to see the amazing rolls only and forget to consider all the times that rolls did not result in anything significant or that failed entirely. You have to back up and see the entire sample space to understand the odds in their real context.

You can still visit her or see the kittens but life’s hard out on the street for a preggers cat and those bbs need some care. Plus getting her spayed post birth will help the community. But also adopt her and keep her forever after.

2019-07-05 17:02:16 +0000 UTCThe dice ruling the story really feels true. While running a campaign the party had their bard ram a door with a roaring scream trying to make several of the enemies run. They got a high roll on the door bash, beat the dc check to scare several enemies. Later in the fight the paladin grabbed the door and got a crit while trying to use it to kill two enemies as she ran for the back stairs to slide down on the door attempting a kickflip. She failed the kickflip though. But holy hell were the dice rolls really fueling the story.

Although, him embracing the sheer potency of the haste buff is a sign in the right direction. Combat feats would be the next step up, I don't think I've seen a single power attack or weapon focus yet.

2019-07-04 13:40:20 +0000 UTCIf y'all want to make Pendegost a better ruler for Shadowfell in the long term, I would suggest the only way is not to change him, but to change the way he stays in power. Reading the Dictators Handbook (great read), nicer rulers are that way because they need a lot of support. The more people they need support from, the nicer they need to be to the population. Hence democracies are on average better places to live than dictatorships. The worst dictatorships are those where the ruler doesnt need much support from the people (think oil rich like Lybia), here they just extract resources and grow wealthy and pay the army to keep them safe from the people rising up against them. Once you can't keep the army happy, that's when you fall. So Pendegost needs to be incentivise to keep the humanoids and not the monsters happy to make Shadowfell a better place.
