Speranzi and Skana, outfitted by Ziusandre, plan the rescue of their captive comrades.
Skana has little skill with a horse, as a peasant, she never learned much about it, let alone the skills required to ride a horse into battle. Too, she is not as strong as her companion nor as skilled with a bow, for her, she needs something that will compensate. Something intelligent, something stronger than any horse she will encounter, something born to spread nightmare on the battlefield. A creature of legend. A dracorse. Hybrid of dragon and horse, and a terror of the field of war.
Speranzi never learned to ride, because no animal would allow her on its back, nor even to come close to them. As such, no mere horse would do, a greater creature, a beast of magic and the power of unliving is all that would do, and then for the first time in her life... the Mother of Terror, will ride.
Tetrad (winged) one of the nine daughters of Mosyne serves within the halls of Tovenari. Like her sisters she is a maid, a caretaker, and a guard.
