I have just uploaded a bunch of files to the website and I'm pretty stoked about this new collection. As you can guess from the title of the post I have made a version 2 of my Nintendo Switch dock and gone for something that is easier to change out and saves you on time and material when you do feel like a change.
First off, the housing for the Switch itself is really straightforward and holds it nicely, still gives you access to the inputs for cords and prints without supports - sized for both original and the OLED versions. On the side of the front panel on the housing are little bumps that will help hold on to the front face plates.
The face plates will all print without supports, either face down for the current Pokemon ones or standing straight up for the Zelda themed plates. This will change for any future plates and will just depend on what design is on the plate itself. The inside of the plate have small insets that will allow them to just snap on to the main dock super easy.
As you can see I have started taking advantage of multi coloured printing capabilities and done the Pokemon themed plates in as 4 printed colours and then just painted the colours that were left.
Even if you don't own a printer that can print more than one colour but want to be able to have a coloured version I would suggest running the print face down and use a white filament for the first layer or two and then switching out to a black or dark colour for the remainder. This way you have a white canvas to paint on and end up with a black outline around the image. Hopefully that makes sense!
A bit of a long post but I hope you guys like the new approach to the dock, it's a lot faster for me to put out new plates than it is a full dock. Now go nuts and print away!
Have a great day and weekend!
