It’s scary but almost a casual thing in a way because they happen so often but never near me. But my mindset has changed since the Louisville bank shooting (20mins from my job) but not because I knew the people who died but because I knew the shooter. I was friends with and graduated with him from high school. I’ve listened to so many true crime things but he never fell into any of the normal categories or shooters/killers. It was so hard to process and accept that he could do it. He was the golden child taking ap classes with all As. It changes how you see people and how you see the friends and family of shooters and killers.
