kind of a wild theory that i don’t even know that i believe but i made the connection from payton talking abt the simpsons in the beginning. bear w me this might sound really stupid lol. what if he had to start a new life so he went to oregon? specifically springfield, oregon. maybe he did that as a hint to his family hoping that they would find him someday. also what if the call he made to his mom was him telling her that he was relocating and that she can’t tell anyone or something like that kinda like how johnny gosch (i think i spelled his last name wrong) visited his mom when he was older.

you should listen to the killer queens podcast on this case! it’s episode 161 & 162. They tell it in a different way than you guys and it’s interesting to hear a different take on it!

I just don’t understand for the life of me why the parents didn’t get in the car and drive to get him? It’s crazy! I wouldn’t have waited around! Or have the police bring him home? So weird.

I laughed so hard when you did the ring-thing 😂
BUT I have a theory, truck stops are dangerous places, how many serial killers may be truckers? So the changes that he showed up there, bloody and disorganised and just wanted to get out of there and someone spotted him, thinking “the perfect victim”.. as you say, he has a special look so this person, thinking seeing him after, it could have been Ed Sheeran or someone else with that kind of look..

Omg what a way to start this case. The ring Garr 😱😂. So I have never heard this case but it is so crazy weird. My thoughts are I do agree with peoples comments that he had a drug problem (not too big) in high school and his parents probably did move for him to have a fresh start and get away from that life. I think that after that move he figured being close to his parents he couldn’t do what he wanted and we do know he was still taking drugs because his roommate did say he knew he took drugs just not to the extent of those 2 weeks. I think the mixture of those drugs with the alcohol put his mind set in a weird place where his addiction took over him.
I also believe after he left his ex girlfriend’s place and that he was going home he was under the influence and his mind was just set on going home and he wasn’t processing what would happen when he got home. I do believe that in that morning maybe the drug’s wore down a bit and actually started to think of that conversation with his parents and that’s why he was dreading going home after all.
I think he did try to commit suicide by driving his car of the cliff and when he got out and he realized he survived he ran away because he didn’t want to go back to his life. I think he knew his parents would try to control his life once more and he just disappeared.
I do really hope he is alive, maybe in a small town where he probably changed his appearance and is working for like a local company and just tried to restart his life away from people that were controlling him.
Sometimes the people that say they love us the most are the people that hurt us the most and sometimes we just need to get them out of our life’s to be better for us.
P.S I do find it strange that his mother never talked about that 1 a.m call because what if he confessed something to her that she again is in denial about.
And also if that was my kid and he was just 3 hours away I would get in my car and try to find him. Especially after the cops found him only 8 miles from the original spot. Or when he was 1 and half hour away like get up go find him and bring home safe.

what if he did try and end his life but hit his head and forgot who he was for a little bit? or forgot who he was permanently??

Okay so hear me out. He had a burner phone or a phone used just for his addiction. He was waiting for someone who never showed up. He was able to wait that long because of his manic state and once they never showed he decided to take his life. One he realized he survived maybe he though he had a second chance and decided to start a brand new life.

So suspicious!! My husband listened to you guys for the first time and this was the most recent since I’ve listened every other one 😂
We could not get over the amount of time he spent in his car not moving. So many theories. Definitely think he’s alive and wanted to leave his old life behind.

Omg! Great job, Payton!
I will say at the end: there is a lot of speculation that Bryce was addicted to drugs according to Morbid podcast! There was a verified websluth who said Bryce was heavily involved and they went to hs together! Also they mention maybe him grabbing something from the duffel bag. And Crime Junkie or Morbid said that he was once marked as voluntarily missing! Idk if that’s true but!!
I think he’s alive! Payton, you made me second guess this 1am phone call!
