In this Youtube video, both FM and SCC sound sources are sounded while checking each part individually. What kind of tones are overlapped?
FM VERTEX, an album featuring FM sound sources by Japanese game musicians.
Message at the time of release
I grew up with FM music from computer and arcade games in the 80s and 90s, but my work was from PlayStation, so I rarely had the opportunity to face FM music professionally. At FM VERTEX, I felt a mixture of joy and nervousness at the prospect of being surrounded by a huge group of FM experts and FM enthusiasts, and being able to confront FM sound sources in a serious way.
And now, in addition to the FM VERTEX participation Prologue FM Mix, we are pleased to announce the release of a coupling of Prologue SCC Mixes on Bandcamp.
Both mixes have an unlimited number of sources and follow the formula of each source.
When I made the FM Mix, I felt that the song was something like the opening of a computer game.
When I made the SCC Mix this time, it felt like an attract demo of an MSX shooting game.
I first encountered the SCC sound source when I was 15 years old in 1987.
MSX and a laser disc were lent from the cram school I was attending at that time, and Konami's GRADIUS 2 borrowed from a friend was more enthusiastic than studying.
I was shocked by the awkward scrolling of 8 dots, but the stage composition was packed with content, and the BGM with a beautiful transparent tone, and I was instantly captivated by the world view.
In my mind, FM sound sources are very dynamic physical sounds; SCC are static, ephemeral memory sounds.
The unique and seething emotion that arouses when listening to the music played by SCC is unique. It cannot be replaced.
Please listen and compare and enjoy.
