Yet another announcement post

Hey everyone. Hope you all had fun over the holidays. I did my usual thing, went to bunch of family and work events and behaved as my anti-social self, but now that all that's out of the way, I can finally play some video games. Mebbe some X Com 2 if I can get Long War of the Chosen working, or maybe I'll just read something.

Anywho, on to the reason for this post. While I don't have the dates nailed down 100%, I'll be getting my wisdom teeth removed in January. Yes, I'm super old to still have my wisdom teeth, but there's reasons for it. Mostly, cuz I'm a wuss, but also because the situation is complicated, the procedure will be expensive and NOT wholly covered by insurance. Cuz they're dicks who'll only pay $1k per year, which is not enough to remove even a single tooth.

Anywho, with SD's Patreon success, I can finally afford to get this done, but let's be honest... I procrastinated real hard on it. Well, it's finally set it stone. After I get some xrays, I'll be undergoing 2 separate surgeries (cuz complicated), and I wanna do them both in january. Now, this means good things for my dental health, but bad things for SD schedule. I don't 100% know how it'll be affected yet, or even if it'll be in January, but I doubt surgery and drugs won't HELP me write more, so prepare yourselves for delays.

This is a post to say thank you to all of you who helped make this procedure affordable, and also, as per my guilt over being so successful in writing, a warning to you all. Y'all ignored me for December, but I highly suggest you guys unsub from Patreon for January, because I have no idea how much I'll be able to write. I'll know more after my next appointment, but that's not till jan 4, which would be too late for you all to cancel. I'll do some writing, but depending on when my dentist is available for the surgery, I'll obviously be taking time off for that. You'll all know shortly after I know, as I'll probably make another, more public announcement.

As always, thank you all for your support. It means more to me than you know, and I feel terrible for... future me being too wimpy and drugged out to write. I hope you all continue reading SD with it's rough start in 2020, whether it be here, on Royal Road, or even on wordpress.

Happy new years and best wishes to you all.

...That expensive? Over here it's like, 50~170$ for wisdom teeth surgery even without insurance/healthcare benefits. Six times the most expensive one only barely reach 1000$... This is US thing again isn't it?

Paween Hinmuangkao

Good luck, and swift recovery! I got laughing gas for mine, which was quite an experience.

Kelsey

I had them removed on gov funds cause they broke in military service accident, never regretted a ting about it.

And now we know why Rain is obsessed with teeth, weirdest writer insert I've seen to date. Go get your dents done we will be rooting for you, and member dental health is mental health.

Most important- have someone record you right after they wake you up. Good luck!

cacophonix

As someone in the same situation, I urge you to do what you need to and get them out ASAP. Leaving my wisdom teeth in has caused me more trouble than it's worth.

Sigh, I still need to get mine removed, but have also delayed it because it's expensive as heck

Good luck! Stock up on ice cream beforehand, remember that aspirin is a blood thinner so take something else as a painkiller, have whoever's giving you your ride have a drink waiting for you afterward, and - and I cannot stress this enough - get general anesthetic, not local.

Good luck! I had wisdom teeth surgery twice as well, don't push yourself and be careful of dry rot!

Thransk

Be quiet spirits, you can't convince me to stop being a patreon. The attempt is useless.

Here that people? We’re banking Ruffo’s drug habit! Way to go us!
