Caption reads:
There comes a point where there’s no point pretending anymore.
She’d been able to deny the truth when it was just a diaper. Lots of people wear diapers, and under a pair of loose pants, you could barely notice.
When the pants went away, denial grew harder. Her puffy, crinkling bottom on full display, so that anyone within eyeshot could see the pillowy white baby diaper she’d been wrapped in, forced her to come up with excuses.
Pink striped leggings and the big bow tucked into her hair? That could be a costume, it didn’t mean anything else. Someone would have to believe her at that, right? Even if she didn’t believe it herself?
When she had to crawl, that almost broke her. Almost. She couldn’t conjure any excuses, but she thought there was a chance–a tiny, fleeting chance–that she could still pretend.
But once she found herself grunting and pushing, swelling out the seat of her diaper with mush that stained the absorbent white pulp a dark, visible brown, the hope vanished, and as she looked back, covering her nose in a futile attempt to protect from the stink wafting from her diaper, she lost the ability to deny the truth.
She was a baby, and helpless, and there was no going back.
