Question for Patrons/Future Story Plans

(I'm not making this a poll because I can't think of a good way to make it a binary choice. I would very much appreciate your thoughts, it'll help shape the future of this Patreon.)

We're getting pretty close to hitting my first Patreon Goal. That means I'll be doing four posts a month. This has me thinking about stories going forward, and I've got lots of ideas, but I also want to write things that you all want to read.

Right now, I'm mostly facing a question of time allocation, and how I should spread out my projects. Longer stories like The Product Tester offer many benefits, but are also a large time commitment. By the time TPT is finished, it'll be more than a dozen chapters long, all of which could have been one-offs in their own right. Starting a second long-form story would split that time even further - doing only one chapter a month for two long stories at the same time, that'd mean writing only one public short story every month, and the exclusive content for you all. (Plus any commissions I do in that time, of course.)

This matters in part because I want to experiment and branch out into new things. Old followers of mine (and those who went through my backlog on DeviantArt) will know that I've written a fairly lengthy diapered space opera story; my attempt at incorporating kink into genre fiction. (VERY old followers of mine will know that this I wrote even more high-concept stories that aren't even on DeviantArt, back when my stories were written on a phone keyboard five paragraphs at a time and neither outlined nor proofread.) This work still has its fair share of smut, but unlike something like The Product Tester or other short works, it also has some chapters go by with almost no kinky content whatsoever, and the plot doesn't revolve purely around the kink.

Writing high-concept genre fiction with diapers is something I'm interested in, but it's not necessarily more appealing to me than writing pure smut or writing sweet, kinky romance. If I did start on another experimental genre-fusion project, it'd slow the rate of other writing being put out.

Of course, I would never give up writing more traditional diaper stories completely. I wouldn't want to do that no matter how popular my other styles are; writing straight kinkiness is just too much fun. It'd shift the balance, though.

So, I want to ask you all, my audience, what you want to read. Would anyone like to see me branch out to more unconventional areas of diaper fiction? Stories that include, but aren't about, diaper smut? Let me know your thoughts in the comments, or by messaging me here or on Discord. :)

Comments

To address your opening point; I've considered that a lot and, ultimately, what it comes down to is that I enjoy writing a lot of different things. I like writing short stories. I like writing long stories. I like writing traditional tropes, genres, and dynamics, and I like branching out to try wacky new things. As long as I'm not doing the same single thing over and over, I'm happy, so my goal with this is to find where the venn diagram overlaps between "What I enjoy writing" and "What you enjoy reading"! Thanks for the feedback. :)

I'll gladly tell you what I'd like, but you should realise that the last thing I want to do is push you into a corner where you're not comfortable. I know making money is sometimes about doing things your heart isn't into, and that's fine, but stuff your heart IS into will always turn out better. So just saying: Remember that you have a vote in this yourself, and yours is more important than ours. That said: I used to like longer stories, which is why I fell in love with Under Lock & Key. These days, I prefer reading non-kink.... So when I do read kink, I like it to be short...... :-) I feel kink is about relationships, so I don't care about genres, as long as the relationships are engaging. I can understand you wanting to diversify, and perhaps there are some genres that work very well in kinky fiction. So why not? :-) Hope that helps. ^_^

I'd like to see you branch out into more unconventional stories. It's always nice to see an artist broaden their horizons.
