Wiggy and Dave's Van
Added 2018-02-22 13:44:39 +0000 UTCAs I'm building the story for Chapter three, I realise that Wiggy and Dave are probably dodgy scrap collectors/rag and bone men. Effectively, they chuck anything of value that isn't nailed down into their grotty old van and then sell it on to whoever will buy it. They probably have a sideline in fly-tipping for small coin too, they're just those sorts of people.
The trouble is, figuring out what they'd actually use. Nowadays it would be a rusty 15 or so year old Ford Transit. In the mid-nineties, it may be a 20 year old Ford Transit, but that still seems a bit expensive and a bit big for them.
Ideally the van needs to be something common at the time and 20-35 years old. Bedford is a strong candidate since it offers the car-based HA, the Transit-competing CF or the much older, mid-sized, CA. These vans were generally smokey, rusty, workhorses back in the mid-90s.
The van is important to the storyline for Wiggy and Dave, it's part of their character and an extension of their horrible selves. Of course the van isn't at all legal sporting no insurance, no road tax, no MoT (roadworthiness test) and likely no tread on at least two tyres.
Your thoughts on this would be welcome, though I'm aware that British mid-90s criminal transport is going to be a fairly niche subject.
