New one-shot story: Hoofballistic

Some of you know that I did go to Trotcon. (And it didn't take out my car. My car is being looked at for a problem which existed before that. ...surprise?) Not everyone may be aware that I stopped in Canton on the way back. I left with a headful of long thoughts.
And I have an former professional athlete among the cast...
This one ran a lot longer than I expected it to. Longer, quite frankly, than I'd wanted. By A Lot. I had no initial intention of seeing this one come in over 16k on the word count, and... that's just how it worked out. So consider this value-for-pledge day.
(I had people telling me to split it into two postings and make two Patreon charges out of it. No. That's not how it works. It emerged as one natural chapter, so that's how it went up. Natural story flow worked against me this time, and that's just how it can go. But if anyone somehow feels bad for me, you know where the Ko-Fi jar is.)
