The creation process of "life"
Added 2020-07-13 10:00:17 +0000 UTCSince the character design of "life" was long and nerve-racking, I thought I'd show you her process of creation.
At the very beginning I wanted to draw a very flowery woman, a kind of "Mother Nature" (hence the green skin), but somehow I felt that was too much of a cliché. The Reaper's design is very simple, she should somehow match him, but not completely outshine him.
I wanted her to be full of life and energy, so to speak "the flourishing life itself".
Then I thought the green skin makes her look rather sick, not in touch with nature lol.
Anyhow, "life" is not only trees and sunshine, life also means darkness, uncertainty and things we don't always understand. Life is much too versatile to fit all facets into one single character. So I gave her colors and symbols of the universe. A "place" that contains the impetuous, the mysterious, the fascinating, the life enabling chaos that also makes life so unique.
It is a bit difficult to explain, but I hope you can understand the thoughts behind it :)
At the end of the day, I'm quite happy with her design.
