Mortality Teaser 28 December 2025

I find myself constantly blackmailed by the Tyrant to add more and more words to what promised to be a short chapter.
As a result, this update, which may or may not fall under the 'teaser' category is 18,000+ words-long, while the bigger effort as a whole is closer to 30,000...and far from over.
But have no fear, the power of friendship will conquer all! (that or tyranny, because the Suicide Squad is on the way)
All of this to explain that the final chapter will be released here next week, but the day where it will be offered to you is much in doubt, for I am going away to celebrate the end of the year with my family, and thus I won't write on Wednesday and Thursday.
I mean, I'm sure Dionysus would love me to write the chapter after a few glasses of Champagne, but I'm resisting the temptation. There's already a few fervout worshippers of Wine in this story, better not to add the author to this collection. I think.
Anyway, enjoy, praise the madness...and revise your ninja techniques.

Clearly, they got all the intelligence from their mothers. I really hope he joins the Suicide Squad soon, and that he gets to shank Midas, he's earned it. The Hana thing now has me very curious about how the Nexus Gate messed with the Motivator Implants. If the gate only shut off the implants, then why didn't Midas just reactivate them himself, he certainly has more resources to manage it than Perseus did. I'm also wondering how long Perseus intends to keep Hana's implant on, given the disgust he showed at the Implant's use in the Narcissist's Arena. After rereading the last teaser, I laughed at the realization that the Bengal Party worked for the East India Company. They'd have fit like a glove there. I also thought at first that Neo-Pleoine would be the only serious contender to be Atlas' cupbearer, but Aurelian Clive seems to be proving us wrong. Clive said his new patron was a man, and Atlas is the only male Fool-Claimant aside from Caligula not aligned with the Coalition, and I doubt Clive would be boasting so much if he was backing (the much weaker) Caligula. The reveal of Agent Cassius' identity is very interesting. I thought for certain that Octavian would be the one to try and become Apollo's cupbearer. The fact that he's sitting this out makes me realize that I may have underestimated the scope of the Court of Rooster's ambitions (or delusions).
