Palace Interior [54x42] - OC (All Tiers) - Revisited

Back to the Palace.  The Lord's Palace. Continuing my improvements on my previous Palace (of Waterdeep) map, this time we are revamping the interior of the first 2 levels. Again, I've kept the overall layout the same, but made it much more regal looking and at a quality I am much happier with.

Map Notes. A little map key with my initial thoughts on each room, as I was creating it. Of course it can be adapted to fit whatever vision you have for the palace!

Level 1

1. Grand Entryway.  Towering white marble columns adorn the entry hall.  The Waterdeep Crest is emblazoned upon the carpet.  The main stairwell leads up to the second floor

2. Study.  A place of solitary work and quiet conversation. The carpeted room muffles the sounds of the crackling hearth and lords and nobles can be found discussing more serious topics or working quietly at the desks.

3. Lounge.  A well stocked bar and wine rack adorn the west wall.  Tables and chairs scattered throughout.  A place to unwind and learn a thing or two from a drunk noble or staffer.

4. Office.  The largest office in the palace.

5. Ballroom.  Primarily used as a large lounge space, the room converts to it's more formal ballroom use when needed.

6. Auditorium. Various talks, lectures, and performances are hosted in this room.  The front two rows contain plush couches and chairs, while the "cheap seats" are stone benches.

7. Criminal processing room.  Two desks staffed by clerks keep records of and prisoners caught or released on their way in.

8.a. Bull-pen.  Guards use this space to conduct their work.  Various items from active cases can be found on their desks and weapons and armor racks line the walls.

8.b. Holding cell.  Short term holding for prisoners, before they are questioned and released or sent to the lower dungeons.

Level 2

9. Hallways.  The hallways are lined with portraits of previous Lords of Waterdeep and other distinguished Waterdavians.

10. Cartographer Office.  Because map makers deserve a nice office. ;)

11. Formal Dining Room. A lavish dining room of rich wood for entertaining nobles and dignitaries.

12. Staffers Office. A cramped office for various palace staff to work out of.

13. Washroom. A different type of throne room.

14. Noble's Office.  A well-appointed office for a noble or lord.

15. Noble's Office. A well-appointed office for a noble or lord.

16. Noble's Office.  It was a well-appointed office for a noble or lord...but not all nobles are tidy.

17. Palace Library. A grand room with towering bookshelves and a roaring hearth. Desks for reading or study sit beneath windows along the exterior wall.

18. Private Study.  A room set aside for nobles for private study of texts from the library.

19. Lords Court. A large chamber for the meeting of the Lords Court.  A large tapestry of Waterdeep is on the north wall.

Files.

Lots of files zipped below. There are 2 main types of files for this release - the interior only files which are labelled by VTT type (ie. OC_13_PalaceInterior_Roll20Paid.zip) and the exterior+interior files which are labelled with _SEASONS_ and include only a 100px .png file.

Comments

Thanks for the reply. It's a very nice map.

Not shown on the sections/floors of the castle I have mapped. You could put it on a higher floor (3rd floor) or down one of the wings to the east. It seemed less critical for any RP functions the map might serve so I focused on offices and the dining room.

Ian

where is the kitchen?
